F.C Reddit United: How a group of Redditors redefined the Footballing world.

    Posted: 23 Jul 2019 06:27 AM PDT

    The story:

A little while ago, I reached out to r/footballmanagergames asking for people who might be interested, taking part in a custom database I was putting together with newly created players consisting of people from right here in our own community.

The response was, frankly amazing and lots of you replied wanting to be a part of it even after it was all saved and ready to go.

As a result, I began my save actively (somewhat) managing our newly created F.C Reddit United and set about watching these players develop over the course of their first season. I think we all had a lot of fun doing it and my plan was to continue managing for a while then drop out and simulate the rest to get to the end.

It quickly became apparent to me however that this was going to take an enormous amount of time. Not only were their over 3500 changes to the database I had made but now I had to play football manager (which we all know can be painfully slow), print screen and save screenshots and write updates for everybody in the thread.

Quite honestly it was a fucking ballache lads and I realized recently that interest was inevitably going to wain as time progressed and the only real thing I wanted to accomplish from this experiment was to get to a point where each of them had developed enough in game to justify a short summary or biography of their exploits in game and to do this, I didn't need to be taking an active role in the management of the club.

Thus I decided, with great regret, to resign from my prestigious position as the proud manager of F.C Reddit United and proceed instead to allow the game to simulate a sufficient amount of time to allow me to achieve my target.

I hope this decision doesn't disappoint any of the awesome people who chose to take part in this experiment and who continued to support it throughout.

I want to do justice to their enthusiasm for this and so this so called "summary" of events as they have transpired is going to be a monumentally fucking long thread I'm afraid, I've tried to make it as easy to navigate as I can but inevitably it's going to be a fucking mess but without further ado, here is an in depth analysis of the state of our club and it's players shortly after the end of the 2030 World Cup which seemed like a reasonable place to bring this to an end.

Each player will have their own post to enable me to post multiple screenshots from in game without it getting confusing so this may take a while for me to get to you. I'll also include a few thoughts I had about each player during my time watching their careers unfold.

I know I'm the 10000000th person to do something like this, but leave your name, all positions you can play with ability to play it (1-20) as well as all nationalities, (starting with your main one) and anything else I can include and I'll add you to a database and simulate into the future and see how you do
