Posted: 08 Oct 2019 08:33 AM PDT It's so sad to see your favourite players decline rapidly until they turn into useless and eventually retire. You can finish a season in a couple of days so the process is quite fast. At some point the majority of the players you know quit and all you have left is randomly generated characters. It reminds me of the fragility of life and the swift passing of time which makes me anxious to click continue. [link] [comments]

I'm just tired of player interactions. Posted: 08 Oct 2019 07:11 AM PDT (Still attached to a long-term save on FM18 so bear with me) To cut a long story short, I sold one of my star defenders to Liverpool for good money because of multiple reasons (he was getting inconsistent, youth are ready to step up, he wants to play in the UCL, etc). His replacement from my youth system was more than capable of filling in his shoes, and our overall league performance wasn't affected by the sale. Business as usual as far as I'm concerned. Somewhere down the line, I've also promised one of my star players that I promise to play my youths rather than buy expensive replacements. He says fair enough. I proceeded to promote at least 5 players from the youth team, and bought a ton of u21s that does feature in the occasional cup and sure-to-win league games, apart from the usual transfers to patch holes in positions that I'm lacking in. Fast forward a few months later, said star player said his promise has not been fulfilled (which is obviously bullshit as I've done nothing but play youth players all season, the oldest player in my team is 29 ffs). So of course I hold a team meeting to tell them off about that. However, the discontent was about me selling the star defender in the first place. I thought that was weird but okay I go with the usual 'the deal was too good to turn down, he's outgrown the club etc etc' spiel that I always go for in these things. All well and good, everyone of my players accepted my explanation... apart from one. He said that the defender was irreplaceable and his play was so important to the team. Now normally I would've thought fair enough, maybe he's pissed he lost a friend or something, if it weren't for the fact that THE PLAYER WHO COMPLAINED WAS A BACKUP WINGBACK WHO I SIGNED AFTER I SOLD THE DEFENDER. HE NEVER EVEN MET THE GUY, LET ALONE PLAYED TOGETHER. HOW THE FUCK WOULD YOU KNOW HOW HE PLAYED? So obviously he's now sulking and unhappy (I'm dropping him permanently after this anyway), but fortunately it doesn't seem to have spread. My team morale is still good apart from two (the lil fucker and the player who complained in the first place), so it's still a lot more manageable. I always knew the whole player interaction system is a joke but this was beyond ridiculous. [link] [comments]

Why do asymetrical tactics work in fm? Does this resemble real life? Posted: 07 Oct 2019 11:15 PM PDT A lot of succesful tactics have an attacking fullback on one side, supporting on the other. Attacking inside forward on one side, supporting on the other. I had succes with this type of setup too but I don't unserstand why fm works like this. If I think about great teams I do not recall one side being less attacking than the other. E.g. Lets think about real madrid when they had Cr7 and Marcelo on one side and Bale and Carvajal on the other. I dont remember them having one side less attacking however I am not a tactical expert. MLS player in my academy has his player rights owned by another team, huh? Posted: 08 Oct 2019 07:49 AM PDT I'm playing as the Colorado Rapids, and believe it or not managed to win MLS Cup the first year. Transfers are fairly frustrating since no one wants to do a trade in MLS of good players and the Rapids are chock full of crappy players filling their international slots.... So, I have some excellent players on the Colorado U23 squad, but when I've tried to sign them, their rights are often owned by another MLS team. This makes no sense. Is it a glitch, or is this right? It's expensive buying their player rights from another club. Also, while I'm at it, is it normal for my academy and U23 teams not to ever play any matches? I have been away from FM since the 2013 or 14 edition, but I came back to try to make sense of MLS's overcomplicated rules. [link] [comments] |
