- Possibly the maddest 16 year old I’ve seen on FM. £10million plus £7 million in instalments... worth it?
- My Assistant & I browsing through the new releases...
- Bulgaria Almost Shock the World - 2050 World Cup
- My best penalty taker cannot score penalties. He is one of my best players for many years but for some reason he gets cold feet when he is stepping up to take the penalty and has cost me a few wins. I don't know what to do does anyone have any suggestions?
- I make custom FM shirts, here are my recent Brentford kits
- Thank you Barca, very cool
- As if they actually paid the buyout clause hahahaha
- I wonder if his parents named him after something that malfuctioned?
- After 4 incredible seasons on loan, Rayan Cherki finally signs permanently for my Volendam side.
- Devloping scouts
- No idea how I pulled this off
- I have genuinely never seen this before. He scored a great goal and just stood there and didn't even realize it could be a feature. This is cool.
- Clearly not.
- Why couldn't I have come out of the pot just one team earlier ffs
- Moscow school of football Pt3
- winning all this but still getting 40m as transfer budget lol
- I’ve just signed a wonderkid for £53 million and he’s just come out as gay. Never seen something like this before
- Andre Onana ban

- What happened in those 11 minutes
- Season 21/22: Final match day I play Ajax with my Feyenoord side. Needed a win to claim the title since we were 2 points apart. I go all out attack and Graziano Pelle does this at 90+1.
- Well deserved Cologne
I just rage quit for the first time since FM15 Posted: 29 Aug 2021 12:54 PM PDT I'm in my 14th season with Leganés and my games against Barcelona are always a nuisance. I reach the 11th game of the 2032-33 season with 10 games played 10 games won and Barcelona second with 9 wins and 1 draw. These games against Barcelona are always tense and in these 14 years with Leganés I have already won the league 4 times. Now with the match, we are leading 0-2 in Camp Nou until the 85th minute where Barca had not created any dangerous situations. They scored a goal in the 85th minute, part of the game. I check my tactics to verify that I'm with a neutral tactic. The goal was a set piece. Then 1 minute later they scored again, 2-2, penalty goal. 1 min later another goal from a corner 3-2 min 87. I put the team in attacking tactics to see if we can at least draw but the game ends and my anger is so great that I press Alt + F4. Not my best moment in FM. I've lost 27 times before against Barcelona, but never like this. After reloading, I play again and win 0-1, but still upset, first for losing the first game and second for reloading. Just sharing this with you. [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 29 Aug 2021 06:33 AM PDT This follows up on my previous guide where I discuss team instructions. Some of the things in that guide help make you understand this one https://www.reddit.com/r/footballmanagergames/comments/pcnvu0/guide_to_team_instructions/ Roles - roles tell a lot about what a team is generally going to end up doing, a lot of them actually do similar things. There are subtle differences with certain roles being very close yet diverging to a different class altogether. Roles cannot change classes with a change in duty, whether on attack, support or defend duty they will still stay true to their nature. That being said, there is also ways to get players to behave in a way more attune to another class, as well as the players who play these roles also have a say in what they do, and as you may have read in my previous guide on team instructions, there are other factors that determine their behaviour, some of which we cannot control. The 7 Types of Role Classes The order of these classes matches up with the mentalities, this is the mentalities these roles prefer. This should be taken with a grain of salt since the opponent exists and will punish the mentality you select and the your overall tactic might also prefer you play another mentality. Finishers - Aims to win through waiting for an opportunity to score, relying on lethal finishing, and movement. Direct - Wins through forcing the issue, running at or moving straight towards goal, relying heavily on physical ability. It also needs raw skill and or final third intelligence Playmakers - Aims to win through the creation of space, primarily for others. Relying on intelligence above all else. Allrounders - Alternates between roles based on circumstances or based on tactical instructions Controllers - Aim to win through dictating the game, using skill, intelligence and or physical ability Transitional - Aims to win by performing the duties of defence and supplementing the attack, protecting the team and offering support Stoppers - Looks to position in such a way as to deny opportunities and goals from the opponent, needing clinical defensive ability. ____Types of Strikers (AF, CF, DLF, F9, PF, POA, TM, TQR) Finishers (POA) Direct (AF) Playmakers (F9, TQR,) Allrounders (CF) Controllers (DLF, TM) Transitional (PF) ____Types of Attacking Midfielders (AM, AP, ENG, IF, IW, RMD, SS, TQR, WN, WTM, Finishers (RMD) Direct (IF, SS, WN, IW) Playmakers (AP, TQR, ENG) Allrounders (AM) Controllers (WTM) ____Types of Midfielders (AP, BBM, BWM, CAR, CM, DW, DLP, IW, MEZ, RPM, WM, WN, WP) Direct (MEZ, WN, IW) Playmakers (AP, RPM, WP) Allrounders (CM, WM) Controllers (BWM, DLP) Transitional (CAR, BBM, DW) ___Types of Defensive Midfielders (ANC, BWM, DLP, DM, HB, RG, RPM, VOL, WB, CWB, IWB) Direct (CWB) Playmakers (RG, RPM) Allrounders (DM) Controllers (IWB, BWM, DLP) Transitional (VOL, WB) Stoppers (ANC, HB) ___Types of Defenders/Goalkeepers (BPD, CD, CWB, FB, GK, IWB, LIB, NCB, NFB, SWK, WB) Direct (CWB) Playmakers (LIB) Allrounders (CD, FB) Controllers (BPD, IWB, SWK) Transitional (WB) Stoppers (NCB, NFB, GK) Why do these classes matter The reason why they matter is that they suit different tactical syles better, and should be used to further get players doing what fits the tactic. Another thing is that if you find yourself using several roles from one class, then don't be surprised when your attack is stagnant, or your defence concedes to the same move. The Finishers This class has roles whose job it is to score, nothing more, nothing less. Although they can do more, and that more is usually just pressing the opponent. These roles do not deny space or track they can only really try to win the ball and with the right player and instructions, they might put great effort into that. If however, you force them to work hard, they might find themselves not being in a position to do what you put them on the field to do, *to score!*. They are usually passive on the ball but will be very aggressive in their positioning offensively. Direct Attackers This class has roles whose job it is to carry the ball forward and get in a position to score. While what they do after carrying the ball varies with some of them inclined to actually score, others try to create. This approach means these roles can be primary threats at times, racking up goals and assists however that means their defensive effort is also limited to pressing. They are however the best pressers combining a need to be higher up the pitch with mobility and work rate. While they can trackback, it's not something that should be counted on. These roles can also be wasteful but that can be worth it if they continually keep breaking through defences and you have players to cover for their failed attempts. Playmakers This class is made up of roles that primarily look to make opportunities by finding players in space, another secondary function these roles have is to not lose the ball, at least not easily. Now firstly these opportunities can be through an assist or a pass to assist, racking up key passes throughout the season. While just like Direct class, they can be wasteful. It is worth the risk if they keep finding players in space. This role's level of playmaking also alternates with some playmakers being able to score themselves and others almost never looking to score unless it's an easy opportunity. Defensively this class varies with some playmakers able to contribute heavily to pressing and covering space, while others (I am looking at you TQR) can be made to press but will not put immense effort into it. They can sit back sometimes since they are smart enough to read play, although it's not something they are usually good at. The Allrounders This class probably needs explaining, so the all-rounders can play in any tactical system. These roles do not really have anything about them that stands out (CF anomaly) due to them being good at some things but not being brilliant enough to be a distinct role. The CF anomaly is the fact that the complete forward is a role normally limited to the better players, yet unlimited in what it's allowed to do. While I do believe anyone with the right attributes can play this role, I do feel that this role is the role you give a striker when they are so good that you never want to think about them for the rest of the season. The other all-rounders are very customisable, so hence why they fit so well into most tactical systems, they can be adjusted based on the situation, the player, the opponent or all of the above. The weakness allrounders have is that their behaviour is hard to really control, since they kind of do a lot of random things, again you can control all of this, but if you find yourself adding 4,5 player instructions to these, (or just want your CF to do something specific) then why not just play (insert ideal role here) instead. Controllers This class has roles that look to deny the opponent (space or possession) while also dictating how the team plays. These roles essentially pride themselves on efficiency, they win the ball or keep it or both. It however is aware of when it should also cover space. Able to switch between closing players down and holding back. The issue is going forward these roles find themselves offering nothing in the way of a direct threat, while they are usually involved in the attack (sometimes heavily), they never really threaten to score themselves and that makes it much easier to predict what they will do. Transitional This class prioritises denying space and closing gaps. They work hard in doing their jobs and this work is not limited to defensive duty but also carries over into transitioning themselves from defence to attack. These roles are known for running the full length of the pitch several times, but they are also good at defending. Offensively these roles just make sure they are involved, they make themselves an extra body and have no real preference for what they do. This means you cannot rely on them offensively because they normally do not have the attributes required to be successful in that department. Stoppers This class looks to stop the opponent from scoring, it is that simple really. Going forward this class has a variety of options since it can be one that lumps the ball forward or one that keeps it for a bit. With a class like this, however, they have one thing in common and that is they do not go forward, they do not support attacks and they will keep their distance. This means fewer bodies in the attack and that severely limits scoring opportunities. The bonus however is that should you lose the ball, players from this class make it difficult for the opponent to take immediate advantage. In terms of defensive styles, this class is great at defending for quite some time, due to their good defensive ability, and they are particularly poor at covering the ground as they are normally immobile, so pressing is not something they would usually be good at.
