    Liam Cooper, the Master Negotiator

    Liam Cooper, the Master Negotiator

This is Liam Cooper. He's the current captain of my promoted Leeds side. As you can see, he's not that good. Only two stars of ability and 34 years old. I can't start him regularly anymore, early cup draws seem to be the only game time he can get. Though he's been arguably the most loyal player Leeds has ever seen.

The question you may have is, "Why do you keep him around? Aren't there better leaders out there you could use?". While there are many better player options, there is one aspect of him I have never once seen in a player. You see, Cooper is a master negotiator.

I'm confident in saying Cooper is the single critical reason we've even got promoted in the first place. Every time a player wants to go to a bigger club, or they want an undeserved new contract that would destroy my wage structure, Liam Cooper steps in, and by the end has somehow talked player after player off the ledge. I have saved tens of millions by avoiding cut-price moves and insane contract renewals; solely because of this man.

This money has all been reinvested and allowed me to get the players that I needed to get promoted (As a bonus, he has never once complained about his contract or game time). Even though by next season he will not be good enough to hack it in the Premier League anymore, I will continue to extend his contract as much as I possibly can.

I don't know if this is a hidden stat in-game or my luck is just insane, but all I know is that I will forever have a soft spot in my heart for Liam Cooper, the Master Negotiator.

In all of FM, what's been your biggest injustice?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2022 05:07 AM PST

Mine is regen called Nicolas Ruiz on FM21. 500 appearances, 450 goals & 111 assists in the league alone. Champions League, Europa League, European Super Cup winner with Unirea Slobozia. Along with 12 domestic leagues, 8 cups & 10 super cups. 3x Golden Boot winner, 9 time League top scorer, Euro Cup 2 player of the season & top goal scorer.

Switched Nationality to Romania but never got called up for the national team. Instead they carried on with 1 in 17 appearance strikers because they played in higher ranked leagues.

Still pisses me off when I think about it.

Do you guys (and girls) criticize/fine players after they perform very poorly in a friendly match?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2022 12:12 AM PST

My friendlies are mostly about my players getting match sharpness.

So I'm hesitant to discipline players.
