Can you apply face packs mid-save?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2022 02:57 AM PST

I just realised I can download face packs and I want to get a face pack for regens. Can I apply them in the middle of a save or do I have to do it at the start of a save?

I don't know many people personally who are as enthusiastic about FM as I am, so I just thought I'd share life's little victories with you all .

Be honest... do you ever save scum/reload?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2022 01:11 PM PST

Look, we've ALL done it at least once. But have you done it more than once?

Honestly, there's usually that one game in the season where I do that shit. It's usually a game where I have 30 shots and then lose because the opponent scores in the first time they take a shot at my goal, or they steal a win with a late game PK. That's just the game trying to fuck you over, so I feel like I have the right to stick the middle finger back to the game as well.

I am ashamed to admit I once did that in a Champions League final and a Copa Italia final, though. But I got fired even after winning the Copa Italia final, anyway, so I'd say karma punished me. As for the CL final, well I've won the CL several times in the series, so just having one won THAT way isn't that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. But I'm still a little ashamed to admit I did it.

    What about you?

How to avoid international break fatigue

    Posted: 14 Feb 2022 04:30 AM PST

When you're managing a top team, like top 5-10 in the world, it seems like your entire squad is playing the full 180 minutes in 3 days, meaning when they get back to the club they are tired as all hell and not ready to face off against potentially a title challenger at the weekend. Even worse, playing more than 135 minutes over 3 matches in 2 weeks means that they have higher than normal injury risk, and it could lead to catastrophe if they are needed back for that weekend game and beyond. I don't know how much of this is actually helpful, I realized it last year and still do to this day when I want to keep everyone fresh for continental competitions and the league season, but hey who knows.

Regardless, the trick is something simple - rest your players. By that, go into their training tab, and when they get called away for international duty, rest them for 2 weeks, and recall back to training as soon as they get off duty. For some reason, the AI managers see that this player is being rested, and will never use them while on international break. Meaning when the first game or two back from break, if you're in the champions league against Man City, their entire team has two weeks worth of matches more of fatigue than you, and potentially one more key player injured than you. I really like doing this, and didn't know how many other people actually stumbled into this, so I figured I'll share while I remembered to.

Granted, I'm sure there are reputation boosts for having international caps and maybe some valuation is lost due to this (I don't know for sure, but it's possible - fact-checking would be appreciated), so it might cost you some money when selling them, but to be fair if you're at the point where you are top 5 in the world, the amount of money lost is probably trivial at best.

TL;DR: Rest your players, and they will be rested.

What is the craziest job offer you ever received?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2022 04:14 PM PST

I had a Carlisle united save in fm2018. After a mediocre first league 2 season I finally got that sweet double promotion. Halfway through my league one season I got a job offer from inter(!) probably since my nationality is italian and we were overperforming.

Had to decline because I am an ac milan fan and I wanted to build a team from scratch but I thought that was absurd

Need help getting my B club promoted in Portugal

    Posted: 14 Feb 2022 03:26 AM PST

I started a save with Belenenses and 3 years later I'm back in the top flight with a couple of decent looking youngsters that are not yet good enough for first team football. Meanwhile, my B team is still stuck in a non playing league. I heard that the way teams are promoted from those leagues are with some sort of 'reputation lottery' that chooses clubs at random with their reputation playing a factor.

I've been sitting on league reset day for a while just reloading, trying to get it up but it never does. I bought the editor, maxed its reputation and it still goes nowhere.

    What else can I try?

15+ corners a game from consistently blocked crosses

    Posted: 14 Feb 2022 04:31 AM PST

I've been playing almost a 4-2-4(in attack)'esque wing-play formation that utilizes the pace of my wingers to bomb down flanks and cross into the box for my strikers. I watch a lot of my games on comprehensive highlights to see the shape of my team and the flow of the game to see if i need to make any changes.

One thing i struggle with is that every god damn cross is blocked out to a throw-in or a corner. Like, almost every cross. It's insane. Anyone else deal with this problem? how did you guys manage to fix it?

I was wondering if changing my wingers/full-backs to more supportive roles or have them cross earlier, but they still consistently get blocked at the byline.

Not scoring on said corners aside, nyone got any tips?
