What's your worst experience with overlooking something when signing a player, and only realising later?

    Posted: 09 Feb 2022 05:55 PM PST

Question is inspired by my own save - I found a really good free agent keeper on super cheap wages, think I'm all set for the season. Played the first game and after a couple of highlights thought he looked a bit small compared to the net

I checked and he's only 5ft10. He's gone on to cost me several goals as he simply can't reach the ball regardless of his great stats

Anyone else had something like this they completed overlooked when signing a player?

Little Old Man City - with Halaand averaging 1.5 goals a game. What an inspiration.

    Joy of Journeyman

    Posted: 09 Feb 2022 02:09 PM PST

    Hello everyone,

I just want to do this kind of a appreciation post as I fell for FM. FM 22 is my first game of the franchise and I have to say I enjoy it immensely. Never played it before, but alway wanted to try it and I am not regretting it. The only thing I am regretting is the amount of time I spend playing. I didn't believe when people said it consumes your life ... I should have done.

Anyway back to my journeyman. (I played like two seasons in german lower leagues to get a hang of the game). I started as a sunday footballer with National C licence. Loaded bunch of leagues and went looking for the perfect job. Near the end of November I finnaly got it. I became the manager of Moyola Park in the Northern Irish third tier. They were dead last and only wanted not to finish last. I managed to get them second to last in my last game so they decided to give me another year.

I managed to sign few free agents and strenghtened the squad (mainly with younger players). I also started to work on my badges. Second season went quite well and we managed to win the cup which was a great achievement. We finished second and were promoted via playoffs. The third season in second tier was very challanging. Squad was very small as nobody wanted to sign for me and I was hovering in midtable (which isn't that bad).

In the winter break came Crusaders FC. Top flight Northern Irish side. They were praising the overachieving with lesser side and signing of young players. They wanted a rebuild and I was up for it. I became their manager mid-season and I was not pleasantly surprised. Most players over 30 and no significant potential. Only young promising player was a GK who was injured until the end of the season. Anyway we got to work and started to climb up from the 10th place we were in (out of 12). And we were quite good. My aim was top of the table but it ultimately went to the last match. I was 2nd on 65 points same as first place Larne with same goal difference. But Larne was dominant all season so my hopes were not high. We won our game quite comfortably 4-0 and I couldn't believe my eyes when my players started celebrating. One of my rivals - Linfield - managed to defeat Larne and help us win the title. I was so surprised and happy.

To end our great season, we managed to win the Cup 2 weeks laters and secured the double. Now the real rebuild starts as many players are leaving or not renewing their contracts.

I just wanted to say, that FM is a great game and journeyman is one of the greatest careers you can do. And it't only the 4th season for me.

Anyway thanks to everyone who managed to read this and all the best to you.

Should I sell my star striker and probably best player I've ever had, Di Mauro, for €145M?

I think I'd go missing if I said no to this...

Had No one to tell this to, but i won the double in my first ever FM career season!

My new centre-back scored a hat-trick in his first match and broke his foot in his second match. Is this the infamous "FM experience™" that you all are talking about?

Can you recommend me a geographical area , any old empires for a journeymen save

    Posted: 10 Feb 2022 01:23 AM PST

You ever go back to a save you haven't played in a while and think to yourself: "Damn, wtf was I smoking??"

This is the single most amazing game of fm I've ever played, don't know how to feel, defended terribly but attacked better than ever!
