Why are Chelsea and Totenham so bad?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2022 10:25 PM PST

They seem to do terribly on most saves ive seen and from my own their even worst. We know they suck in game but does anyone know why? Their tactics look great on paper and people like lukaku and kane are beasts compared to their irl form

So my club captain has led a mutiny as I sold St.Maxi. "Lack of depth in LW" - Yeah. We don't play with wingers you fool!

Always Ignore tactical match advice doesn't work? (FM21)

FM17: The year is 2044 and I've just won the penalty shootout by scoring 1 out of 5. Opponent scored 0 out of 5. Keepers were beasts. All misses were saved by GKs.

How long does it take you to play a season?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2022 04:01 AM PST

I've been playing Championship Manager / Football Manager off and on for over twenty years. (And in no way am I an expert).

When I first started I could knock out a season in a night but these days (currently playing FM2019) it takes weeks, if not months in real time to complete a season.

I'd expect newer versions to take even longer, considering all the social media BS they've began adding over the past few years.

I'd be interested in hearing how long it takes other managers and what versions they're playing, along with any tips on how to speed things up a bit?

For clarity, I only watch key highlights with everything at max speed and send my assistant to the press conferences where possible.

Also my PC is old and all I need is a new GPU to build my new one.

    Selling star players

    Posted: 08 Feb 2022 04:21 AM PST

I just sold Ruben neves in my wolves save to man it's for 105million I wanted to reject the offer at first but since he wanted to leave, I didn't want to hold him back. Now I realized that was a very good deal, I quickly used the money to improve the rest of my squad and bought a lot of players including his replacement Madison for 48 million I also improved squad depth which was our major problem. Now my team is ready for the new season.

What is the strangest career you've seen in your save?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2022 09:22 PM PST

For me it's Joao Pedro in my current save

Started off with 5 in 27 for Watford in the Prem as they went down, followed by a decent, but not spectacular 13 in 28 in the first 6 months of the Championship for the first 6 months.

Then Man City paid £14 million to loan him for the rest of the season. He played 5 times without scoring.

Then he joined Chelsea in 2023 for £20 million where he scored a measly 9 in 53. He did have a decent rating of 6.98 tbf.

In the January 2026 window he joined Arsenal for £15.25 million where he scored 1 in 7 games. His rating was 7.18 though.

Moved to Wolfsburg for £15 million in June 2024 where he had an average first season of 8 in 28 followed by a 19 in 34 the next season.

Then he moved to Bayern for £38 million, played 4 games and was dreadful.

I signed him for £20 million for Southampton and he has 5 in 10 with an average rating of 7.26 so far.

Players demand very high wage increases

    Posted: 07 Feb 2022 06:25 PM PST

I'm getting really sick of this. Serginho Dest is currently earning £66k p/w and wants a new contract. Fair and square, that's not a great salary for a regular Barcelona player so I agree to enter contract talks. His initial demand is now £350k p/w. Why should I offer him 5x his current salary? Same happened with Sebastian Coates. I pay very few players this salary or higher. I've constantly got to deal with players getting upset because I don't want to overpay them.

Hardly ever seen a youngster with this big stats, so decided just to go for it and buy him for 11M (which is an absurd amount for my club) because my promising striker just got snatched by Chelsea. Decided to check his PA with in-game editor and it turned out to be a whopping 200(!).. I'd say worth.
