1/2 ⭐️ to 5 ⭐️ game speed feels like I’m speeding up time

I recently got a new computer ( Lenovo Ideapad I5 ) and the game speed is 5 stars compared to my old computer which was 1/2 a star. The difference in speed is like mertesacker turning into Adama traore especially as I already have 1600 hours on the slow computer

I am sick of my scouts...

    Posted: 08 May 2021 05:06 PM PDT

I have had enough of my 19/19 scouts telling me that my 17 year old player has 4* PA and then it turns out that they have 123 PA in the editor.

I'm absolutely sick of the fact that I should immediately withdraw from that bid of £6m for an 18 year old AM from Fulham when it's accepted, because that means that the player probably has a much lower PA than what I have been told by my scouts.

I have had enough of all my good youth players being 1 or 2 points away from their maximum potential ability (122CA/125PA etc), but not being told that on screen for no reason.

It is ridiculous that 20th in the league (in my current save) Aston Villa, in 2028/29 have a team with 6/11 first team players 145-150CA but I am being recommended 130PA players as "excellent PA" players by my scouts.

Honestly, it is the most deflating thing that I run into in this game. I feel like it is utterly manufactured difficulty and designed to make the game more difficult for the player artificially. Does anyone have anything else like this? I can't be the only one whose had a player with European Golden Boy and then seen that their PA is 130????

    Tactics guides/position guides

    Posted: 08 May 2021 08:11 PM PDT

Are there any good tactics guides out there? Not like the guides explaining how to play like Liverpool or City or prime Barca, instead more like explaining how different positions and roles interact and how to select the right players to fit those roles?

I've been reading a guide from 2017 but don't know if the guide is now out of date do to changes to the coding and such. FM Scout Tactical Development Workshop. I've quite enjoyed reading it even though its a long read.

I've also found this site that breaks down each position and role for 2020, but I haven't yet gotten around to reading it.

    [FM20] Bambesch Forest | Luxembourg Build A Nation | Season 9

    Posted: 08 May 2021 04:16 PM PDT

    [FM20] Bambesch Forest | Luxembourg Build A Nation | Season 9

With back-to-back-to-back titles in the league and cup, domestic domination is all but secured. We are comfortably the best team in Luxembourg by a mile. Our objective now is to keep making sweet, sweet European money and upgrade our facilities to the point where we can start producing good Luxembourg youth. Onto Europe we go...

    Europe

Like last year the first qualifying round of the Champions League gives us a tough draw in Danish side FC Kobenhavn. In the first leg away from home we scored a penalty in the first half and just needed to hold on to a one nil lead. In the 75th minute however Kobenhavn scored from an in-direct free kick. It finished 1-1. The second leg started off like the end of the first, another goal given away from an in-direct free kick. A sloppy clearance led to a first time volley from their player into the net. In the second half we give away another penalty to make it 3-1 on aggregate. We pulled one back but it wasn't meant to be. Sloppy defending aside we played decently and made a good account for ourselves.

We drop down in the second round of Conference League. We draw Gibraltar side Europa FC. A team I managed in FM18 and I got them to the first knockout round of the Europa League before quitting the save. Nine seasons in the team is filled with regen players I don't recongise. A close 2-1 victory away was followed by an 8-0 trashing in Luxembourg. We were miles superior to them.

In the third qualifying round we faced Lithuanian side Zalgiris. Definitely better than their Gibraltar counterparts but no match for my mighty side. A comprehensive 4-0 win was followed by a tighter 1-0 win at home. With that we were one step away from the group stage.

The draw wasn't kind to us, we faced Slovenian side, Slovan Bratislava. Our first leg at home had shades of the Kobenhavn game as we scored early through a back post header but squandered our lead from a cut-in just inside the box. We finished the first leg 1-1 and to be honest I wasn't very confident of our chances.

They had a good team with former West Ham striker Haller leading the line. The second leg didn't start according to plan as they scored a penalty with Haller scoring... We managed to equalise a minute later, before they scored a minute after that. 3-2 on aggregate going into half time all we needed was a goal to confirm our place in the group stage. In the 56th minute our new signing Manzoni, who had scored 7 at that point and was crucial in us getting this far decided to get sent off. I had to change my formation, so I took off the wingers and put on two strikers.

What happened next was incredible. We scored 4 goals with 10 men to make it 6-3 on aggregate. I don't know how it happened or why but I've just amazed it did. We had several counter attacks and were just clinical. Pedro Lopes scoring a hat-trick. With that we're into the group stage of the Europa Conference League.

Probably the craziest game I've managed in the save so far.

The group stage draw gave us against Belgian team Charleroi, Dutch team AZ, and Astana from Kazakhstan. Not an easy draw by any means but not impossible. I had hoped for a third place finish to improve on our last group stage outing.

Our first game at home to Charleroi was a bore 0-0 draw but I was delighted to get a point from a strong Belgian team. Away from home we beat AZ 2-0. They decided to come out with a weakened side filled with prospects and were punished for it. We followed it up with two comfortable victories against Astana, 5-2 away and 3-1 at home. With 10 points in 4 games we had qualified for the next round but it was just a case of first or second. If you finish in first place you go directly to the second knockout round.

A narrow 3-2 defeat to Charleroi was followed by a 2-0 defeat to AZ (to their stronger first team). We finished the group stage in second, progressing to the first knockout round. We got a strong Norwegian side in Molde who had finished 3rd in their Europa League group stage.

Our first leg was away. It started poorly as their player drove in a first volley from a headed clearance followed by us giving away another penalty. In the 76th minute a poor back pass resulted in a bizarre own-goal and at the absolute last minute we score from pressing their defense from a kick out. I'm sure Klopp would be very proud of us.

At home two direct free kick goals from them killed any hope or chance we had in progressing. We gave them a game but the gulf in quality was plain to see. It finished 3-1 at the end with us bowing out of Europe.

I'm delighted with the progress we've made this season, between prize money and TV revenue we made upwards of five million. Not counting gate receipts and the benefits of increasing our reputation. The club is at a very healthy financial state with wages being kept reasonably low. I should have nothing to worry about money wise and will push on the facility upgrades as you'll see later.

    Domestic (Cup + League)

I decided to lump these two sections together as with the league and cup becoming a bit of formality it doesn't make sense to dedicate sections to them. In the cup the only notable thing that happened was our final. We faced division 2 side Wiltz. If you remember Division 2 is the fourth tier of Luxembourg football. They had a relatively easy ride not having to face any National Division side in the run-up.

A comfortable 3-1 victory in the end.

League wise we obviously won it again, with again only one real game of note. Our only draw. 2-2 to Una Strassen denying me of my perfect 26/26 win season. We even missed a penalty and hit the crossbar. Other than that it was a completely comfortable season with me even implementing a new formation for next season and brooding in some youngsters.

The other three of Racing, Progres, and Una Strassen join us in Europe.

    Transfers

I'll go over two loan signings who agreed to extended their contracts until next season, two players I developed through loans and any departures.

Our main departures being Baeten, Lakin, Williams, Lauria, Mendy, and Kouassi.

We only made 65K from player sales but with sell on clauses put into most of them it wasn't long until I got my reward. The biggest coming from Baeten which was 429K to buy out the clause.

With my reputation being so low this is the only feasible way of making money from transfers.

My loan signings who extended their contracts included Brenoe and Rafael from last season.

Pavel Bina / 19 / Czech / MC / Loaned from Slavia Prague

The DLP had a decent season with 4 goals and 8 assists from 30. He has good stats all around and I expect him to be a big player for next season.

    Danijel Dolcek / 19 / Croatian / DC / Loaned from Dinamo

Not having to pay any of his wages is quite nice. Being back-up to Van der Berg and Jonsson who decided not to renew their contracts. Dolcek will probably be in the first team for next season as I look to implement a 3 at the back formation.

    Frank Ibrahim / 21 / Nigerian / MC

Ibrahim was on the cusp of first team football when I decided to loan him out. We went to a Nigerian team for the calendar year. When we returned in January of last year we had developed into a first team player. Contributing 3 goals and 11 assists in 11 appearance for that half season. This season he had 2 goals and 13 assists in 30. A good return.

    Giorgi Gvenetadze / 21 / Georgian / GK

I had sent Giorgi out on two loan spells, totaling two calendar years. When we returned this January he had developed to the level of the loan signings I had made in GK. So I played him for the rest of the game and he did decently. A good all around player, maybe slightly slow, I hope the Georgian international will be my keeper for the future.

This I think is proof that my loan system is working. I loan players out and let them develop, if they're not good enough I can just sell them. I've sold add-ons from these players for 10K to 30K. It's solid money and you have to remember I'm not paying any wages so it's basically free money.

    Miscellaneous

I was able to get the board to agree to upgrades on our training and youth facilities. With work being completed in October of next year.

The first step to our ultimate goal.

It's fair to say Pedro Lopes had a incredible season, he even narrowly missed out on a golden boot! Granted it's for the Conference League but it's an award all the same.

His twelve goals were vital in our European campaign.

Our strike force loan pair of Manzoni and Lopes were the standouts this season. Scoring 69 (ay) goals between them. Lopes with 40. Sadly their clubs didn't want to extend their contracts so I'll have to replace them for next season.

Our best eleven for this season.

    Overal Best Eleven

Lopes wins player of the year along with Manzoni.

    Player of the Year.

    Closing Thoughts

I will concede I relied heavily on loans this season, probably more than I would have liked. At times there were 9/10 loan signings in my first 11. Next season I'm going to look to not bring as many in on loan and try to sign more players. I think next season we'll probably have a weaker team overall but with our performance in Europe and a huge bump in co-efficient I hope we can get some favourable draws in Europe.

Join me next time for our 10th season in Luxembourg.

    Underpowered in FM

    Posted: 08 May 2021 07:33 PM PDT

There are some teams that in reality are really good but are pretty underpowered in FM. The best examples for this are probably Leicester and Atalanta. Both hunting for top 4 spots in reality for the last two seasons but in FM I have never seen them finish anywhere near. What could the reason be?

I play with Milan in Serie A most of the time and in reality Atalanta are one of our fierce rivals but in FM beating them feels easy. Personally I think it effects the realism a bit at least in the first few seasons of a save. Also it's not as if this happened in some of my saves. It happens in every save.
