I've signed some quality players on free transfers over the years in this save, but Gianluigi Donnarumma is next level. Can't believe I managed it.

    Unemployed and Uneducated (PART THREE)

    PART ONE

    PART TWO

    PART THREE

    PART THREE - HOMECOMING

On 27. June, Ståle Solbakken was sacked as Rosenborg BK manager. That's a job that would raise eyebrows among all promising managers in Scandinavian football. Rosenborg is the most successful team in Norwegian football, having won the national league title 28 times (in FM by august 2023). In the late 90s and early 2000s, they qualified for the Champions League group stage eight years in a row (more than any other team), beating teams like Real Madrid, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, while also winning the league 13 consecutive years, from 1992 to 2004.

For Rosenborg fans, simply winning the league isn't enough. They demand that the team plays attacking, entertaining football, even against the big dogs in European football. In 2023, things weren't running as smoothly for them. They were in 5th place in the league, 10 points behind league leaders VÃ¥lerenga. Only the winner of the Norwegian league gets the chance to qualify for the Champions League group stage, second and third place, as well as the winner of the cup can try to qualify to the Conference league.

For me, managing Rosenborg would be more than just a prestigious job. I was born and raised in Trondheim and have been a season ticket holder at Rosenborg's Lerkendal stadion for years. This wasn't just a job. It was the job. But let's be honest, I was managing Brommapojkarna in the Swedish second division. We were on our way to go up, but we weren't there yet. I hadn't even started my continental A licence course yet. I was never going to get the job, but I felt I had to apply anyway. This opportunity doesn't come around too often.

To my surprise, I got an interview. I was a decent fit for the club's vision, they said. I said all the right things during the interview. They asked if I wanted to take charge now or at the end of the season. Now, I said. I mean I wasn't gonna get the job anyway.

Meanwhile, I kept focusing on the most important thing, getting Brommapojkarna promoted. We played at home against Halmstad, a 1-1 draw. I didn't know it, but it was going to be my final match in Swedish football. Four days later, Rosenborg approached me with a contract offer. It was a dream come true. I wanted to bring success to Bromma, but a manager job at Rosenborg, my club. I couldn't say no. I said goodbye to the staff, to the Kaspers and the other players and took a train north.

    Hey all,

Long time lurker/first time poster. So I set myself up in a unique save where I started out in tier 10 of the English table as America FC. The whole subplot is the board wanted American players on the team. Obviously that was hard to do for a while being so low so I had to win a lot as that target was failing almost constantly. Now I am in the EPL and want to establish a link with a team in the MLS to act as a feeder for American talent. I am nationally known but am about to finish 8th in my first season so I expect a bump. When and how can I get this specific relationship established and if I can, which is the best MLS team to do it with?
