My football manager dream/reality

Hey guys just thought I would share my experience of football manager 19 if anyone needed any inspiration for a new save.

So, little bit of context/backstory: I'm from a small town in England and moved to a big city in England at about 21, spent ten years there before moving to berlin 2 years ago. I had loads of close mates in my hometown before moving and also made loads of really good mates working in the bar scene in the big city. Despite a few of my old mates visiting the big city for fun and frolics, the two crowds never really crossed paths as if wished, much to my frustration. Since moving to Berlin I've really missed all my old mates from England and really miss feeling the connection with them, especially during the pandemic where they can't even visit. My surname is a play on words with 'Ghana', different spelling, same name.

This leads me to my FM19 journey. I decided to take my first foray into the editor mode after playing since 97/98. I created my club in the 6th tier, replacing alfreton town as this was the easiest way to do it. I renamed the club 'Republic of Ghana' and created a small stadium called 'The Fields of Ghana'.

I then created 25 players to be aged 15 from scratch all with my birthday at the start of the season, for continuity. I gave them around 50 rating out of 200, with a potential of around 170. 2 players for each position and 3 'subs' (cb/lb/rb) (CDM/cm/cam) (lw/rw/str).

I have: 2xGK 2x RB 4xCB 2xLB 4xCM 2xCAM 2xRW 2xLW 2xST

I made one eleven all my mates from my home town, and the other eleven was from the city. I edited everyone to be 'friends' with the people they're friends with in real life. I edited all my coaches to be ex managers I've had in previous bar roles that have taught me things in gastronomy. Scouts to be recruitment managers I've worked with in the industry. My girlfriend is my assman. (She sometimes tries to leave me for league one clubs but she always follows the money when I offer her a new deal). The attention to detail is crazy and we climbed the leagues rapidly to get into the premier league. I set each player to have a pre agreed transfer arranged to a 5th tier club in 2040 so nobody can poach my players from me. The rules of my game are that I'm not allowed to sign anyone, I have to go with this 25 man squad I have and supplement the squad/bench with academy grads. (I set my academy to be world class). I've set myself as the manager, but I also have a different nickname version of myself as the centre forward and best player, slightly increased the potential for myself. Naturally, I'm the one player who is 'friends' with all of the 24 other players and staff, as it's my life.

I've also set up so that each player has an ambition to be an assistant manager/coach/scout etc so when they all retire I am going to bring them all in to my back room staff and look over the next generation of Republic of Ghana players.

It's been absolutely incredible to watch my team go from the 6th tier all the way to champions league winners, watching my mates all celebrating with each other, setting each other up etc. I also know that in around 2035 my players are going to be in their mid 30s and I'm gonna have to try and get the best out of a 25 man squad of old men before they all leave me in 2040. It may sound like a boring save to just have the same 25 players for 20 years; but they're my best mates and I'm really close with them all and watching things like my VERY Irish mate declaring for England and seeing my mates I knew would get along flicking it round the corner for another to finish before jumping on his back to celebrate is honestly an incredibly satisfying feeling.

It might not be for everyone but I've thoroughly enjoyed this save and if it inspires anyone else to do something similar then this post has been worth it.
