During lockdown I attempted my first save in the lower leagues....it went as follows.....
I know it isn't much but after 3 years of mobile I can finally play the PC version, even though it is only FM20
Bought this regen from Nice without even noticing his height until after. I'm pretty new to fm but this has to be considered an elite regen right? Target Man seems like the obvious answer, but what position should this beast be trained at?
First time I've ever had a consortium make bids for players after taking over the club...am I just gonna be "stuck" with one or both of these players now?
I think hell froze over in this save.

I think I hit the lottery with this Regen...supports my club and crazy good for his age. His flair is a bit Low though, so I need some ideas on how to retrain him. I have a lack of IF and IW, would it be a good idea to also train him as a Raumdeuter?

I'd never gone as low as the Vanarama South before so decided to give it a try!

I picked Kingstonian. (I saw that they had links to Corinthian Casuals and it just "felt right".)

I've never played at this level so I don't really know what I'm doing.

However.... In my first season I somehow snuck into a play off place. Then my best striker Josh Fenlon (loan) got injured....bad times. I play my first playoff game....I win 😱. Next game? Win....final game? Another win! I'm up into the vanarama national....I'm predicted 11th? This is curious...

I get a truckload of new players but keep the likes of Tom Montgomery, and Ellington. (I haven't mentioned then before - they mean nothing to you)

There's an issue, I can't get Josh fenlon on loan (the club want him to play with higher level players)....hmm I panic loan a load of strikers and try them all out....the start of the season is bumpy with no striker taking charge....around Christmas I retry a guy called Griffiths (loan). And wow....he carries my team into the play offs!

Spennymoor in the first play off game! Ok we've got this we drew 0-0 with them in the league.....oh.....we lose 6-2! (They had ten men)....the old familiar anger comes forth. I don't mind losing but 6-2? To 10 men? Unhappy.

Gather myself and get rebuilding the team over the summer. I'll get Griffiths back....oh wait they don't want him to come to me now....but now I can get Fenlon back!....but he's now comparatively not as good as Griffiths.....hmm

Panic loan a load of players!

Also....the board have a demand. They think we should win the league now (our media prediction is 3rd or 2nd now). I can't budge them on this. It's the only option. If I don't say yes they'll look for another manager. Club vision yadda yadda....bit uncomfortable but okay I guess?

Season starts ok...same issue. No strikers are dominating....wait why don't I try this guy Murphy from Ireland on loan? Murphy is good, he may be better than Griffiths....we storm the league into 1st by November! Ace!

In the midst of this We also get new owners (lots of cash!? No not much cash.....arse)

Lose Murphy to 6 week injury....start losing...not sure what's happening. Can't seem to stop conceding...Murphy comes back but something has changed in the team and the defence, while never the best is REALLY starting to hemorrhage goals.

I'm running a 442 attack. Which worked until November but now? Not so much. I balance out the tactic a little, get a couple of draws and couple of wins....even hit a slight bit of form and then....collapse.

I'm now in 3rd and slipping....February hits and oddly the teams I'm playing keep getting a man sent off.....which would be amazing only....they seem to get better with ten men and win everytime.....the familiar anger starts brewing.....by end of Feb we're 5th.....I get a new defensive coach this one looks good. Keep the faith, I can turn this around....by March I'm 6th.

The messages in my inbox from the media of my security (lack of) are increasing.....I pick up a win in five, few draws but mostly keep losing (and to relegation sides and better sides with ten men this isn't looking great....)

I'm also trying a 4141 with a dm formation. And I get an away win! And then proceed to lose again after that game.

Leyton Orient leap frog me in late March early April...I have Dover and Bristol rovers last 2 games (Bristol are league winners)....I go 2-0 up against Dover! My ass manager keeps telling me to take off our best cb. "He looks tired" sigh I cave in. 73rd minute take him off. They score....ffs. They score again....really?.....94th minute? Score a winner......

I'm now 3 pts behind Leyton Orient I need them to lose their last game and me? To beat Bristol rovers (the league winners)....I try my 4141 again in hope of catching them on the break.

I lose 3-0

Leyton Orient win.

I lose out on playoff place.

Oddly I have the best goals for in the league but have conceded the 4th most....this never happens in my saves (I'm no expert in fm but this is really bad even for me)

The fans take a poll on if I should get sacked or not (51% say keep me. 49% say sack me).

The board want to speak to me.

I actually have a few options to discuss. It isn't a straight sacking.

First they ask me to explain the league position and tailspin since December (I can't even explain it to myself let alone a computerized fictional boardroom - I mean that honestly. I seriously don't know why we kept conceding!) I say I don't think it's as bad as it looks (ie we're in our second season in this league! We just missed out on play offs come on!)

They say they need to see that positivity on the table.

Why should we keep you?

Again several options including begging them and tell me what I need to do to save my job? (I kind of wished I'd gone for that second one)

But in the moment I thought. This is ludicrous, we're new to the vanarama national. I'm building a good squad. We've had a nightmare second half of season but let's think long term (I choose an option that basically says this).

Sacked.

All that energy, all that time, all that anxiety and rage and glorious wins....now dust in the wind.....

Now I don't know what to do.

And that was my experience with the lower leagues lol

Tldr: I took Kingstonian from vanarama south to the vanarama national in one season, had some striker heartbreak, got into playoffs in national in first season up in the national league. Heartache of 6-2 to the hands of the evil spennymoor. The board want me to win the national league in my second season. I rally the troops get into first place, absolutely capitulate like you've never seen. Finish 8th - 6 points off playoff place. Won't Grovel to the board. Get sacked. Tears. The end
