GUESS WHO GOT A SON IN THE ACADEMY!!!!!!!!!!!! (HE EVEN SHARES MY IRL BIRTHDAY)

Me when I play very defensive, time waste, play for set pieces, play 8-1-1 with pressing forward on defence and still concede in 90th minute

I'm a big fan of using the obnoxiously large maximum field limits in some leagues (135x98 Irish First Division)

Tips to Improve Poor Team Form

    Posted: 16 Dec 2020 01:58 PM PST

We've all been there, things are going great until they aren't. I've picked up a few strategies on how to get your team back on track and wanted to share them with you, as well as hear what works for you. They will be grouped by easy first steps to desperate last grasps.

Man Management First Steps (Low Impact, Low Risk)

Doing these consistently will help boost player and team morale when things are tough. If you are patient and persistent this can really help dig you out of a hole.

    • Praise players who are training above a 7 rating. This almost never backfires and can be done weekly.

    • Criticize players who are training poorly. Generally if they show up in your weekly training report for training poorly they will react well to your criticism.

    • Praise the conduct of your players weekly. I have never had a player react poorly to being praised for their conduct.

    • If a player is in a poor run of form (~6.5 avg. rating in their last 5 matches) this usually will boost morale and can even give them a nice boost in performance the next match.

    • Schedule Team Bonding and Community Outreach in your training. Both of these boost team morale and happiness and have little impact on squad fitness. I try to include Team Bonding each week in my training schedule.

Set Up For Success (Medium Impact, Situational)

    • If you have the luxury of extra funds, fit players and a break in fixtures to schedule a friendly against a low reputation team, do it. Assuming you can beat them, this can give your squad a taste of victory that can help them get out of a slump.

Last Resorts (High Impact, High Cost/Risk)

    • Hold a team meeting. These can be very risky if you don't play your cards exactly right, but if done well you can give a massive boost to squad morale. Keep in mind your team's expectations when giving these talks. If you are projected to finish bottom of the league, and currently are mid-table but in a poor run of form, your players aren't gonna react well to you telling them they are doing poorly. They expect to be bottom of the table, and by their standards they are overachieving.

    • Hand out new contracts. Obviously this is not an option for many clubs, but if you can this will significantly boost that players morale. Handing out a new contract to a struggling star player can make a big difference but at a great cost.

Preventative Measures and Good Habits (Tasks you can do to prevent bad morale)

    • Schedule weekly team training reports, from here you can praise players doing well and reprimand players doing poorly. This also gives you a good sense of what players train well consistently and are developing.

    • Make time for Team Bonding in your training. Doing this weekly or bi-weekly can make sure you keep that team morale high.

    • Keep High Influence players from having issues. Make sure that their playing time is being fulfilled as if they go public with concerns other players might back them and become concerned.

I've had no RW with full tactical familiarity for 4 years, my RWs are always very injury prone making RW a rotation headache, and I've had to play mids and strikers in that role sometimes. Now a (appropriately named) GIFT from the academy shows up, my only 2 star CA regen so far. Starter from day 1.

    Promises are kinda ridiculous

If I win every single trophy in a season, you really think one of my players is going to request to leave the club because he couldn't play as a Mezzala?

And if I sign a defender because my defence needs strengthened, why is he asking me to strengthen my defence? I am doing that! You are the strengthening.

Oh boohoo, I didn't sign all your mates to sit on the bench so you want to leave the club? Grow up.

No, Mr 17 year old with 2 star potential, you will not be getting a new contract to reflect your increased importance to the team, I don't even know who you are!

It's stupid that we have to deal with morale drops because of stupid shit like this, and it needs sorting ASAP.

Marcelo Bielsa who is now managing Manchester City calls me overrated before an FA cup game, I then go on to beat him 3-0 with a front line of Daniel James, Mason Greenwood, and Alexis Sanchez, and then he has the audacity to still call me average after the game.

idk why this guy is suddenly the next Moukoko in my youth team. His stats arent too good, right?I got strikers with 2 1/2 star ability and 5 star potential and much better stats who cant pull this off
