Basically just got given 70k for free. The CEO of transfers.

Ever started a save with a team just to manage one particular player?

    Surprised he wasn't Welsh

I'm not sure I see what you're on about Head Of Youth Development, but okay.

Tell us about the thoroughly mediocre player you played way too much.

I landed at Serie B Spezia Calcio in Italy entirely by happenstance in a journeyman game as they were the first professional club in Europe to offer me a job.

They were pretty terrible, but I hustled in some quick changes in the January transfer window to save them from relegation and made some significant long-term investments over the summer.

But I could not, for the life of me get a striker who was worth a damn.

Our defense was good and my midfielders would score once in a while, so we put up a solid mid table position by March.

At this point, desperate, I put in a seemingly unremarkable 17-yo regen named Michael Fabio Grosso at the top because he literally could not have been worse than my other options.

Well, the kid scored seven goals in a five-game winning streak and we finished eighth, which was WAY above market rate.

It also meant, thanks to Serie B's bizarre promotion system, we were in the playoffs. It meant three one-legged road games, and we had to win them all because a draw advances the higher ranked team.

MFG posted a brace in each of the first two games, which were 2-0 and 2-1 wins. We came to the final make-or-break game. They parked the bus. We sucked. After 90 minutes, it was 0-0. 2 minutes into injury time, MFG dribbled in from the left, beat a defender in the box and BURIED a shot into the back of the net. We were going up!

Well, MFG would get a substantial amount of game time from me over the three seasons I managed Spezia in Serie A. (I'd take them to the Champions League and the Europa League in seasons 2 and 3 before Dortmund came knocking.) tmThe twelve goals he scored down the stretch in the Serie B playoffs would be half the goals he'd score for the team. Yup.

My young striking prodigy scored 12 times in 60 matches in all competitions after that magical spring.

I don't know why I kept playing him. Maybe because he was young and I'd sure he'd get better (he wouldn't). Maybe because I was sympathetic that Serie A was a big step up (sympathy doesn't put the ball in the net.) Maybe I just couldn't let go of the magic he showed for three months (It never came back.)

Spezia's new manager sold MFG within a week of being hired. He spent the rest of his career in the Austrian second tier, retiring at 31.

He didn't score anything in Austria, either.

Tactical Style has changed?! How do I permanently change my style?!

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 05:53 PM PDT

I set my Tactical Style when I began my journeyman save way back in the lower leagues. Throughout my journey, and I've made to the EPL now, I've slightly adjusted and tweaked my style. Before EVERY match though I'm getting advice that, "We've changed from our original Tactical Style. Let's bring back these settings etc."

How exactly do you set a FIRM new tactical style so I get rid of these messages?! I've gone to my Tactics page numerous times and made some slight adjustments to what I want our new style to be, yet I always get this message every match!

Q: Do I actually need to SAVE the style for it to become the teams new primary style ?

Anyone else signed Marco Kana in this year's FM? He's turned into quite a beast for me

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 03:51 AM PDT

After 25 seasons, 5 clubs, 2 CL semi finals, 1 CL final and 2 Europa League wins, I finally managed to win the Champions League in this save! First one for Juventus since 1996 as well

    Thank God for FM

Recently got FM for my birthday and now am forced to complete two weeks of self-isolation mostly confined to my bedroom. Don't know how I'd be able to cope if I didn't have it!
