Please use this thread as a place to ask questions that are specific to your save, such as:

    • "Why is my tactic not working?"

    • "What role should I play this player in?"

    • "I have £xxm to spend, who should I buy?"

If you are asking for tactical help/advice, please post an image of your formation and what insutructions/roles you have set.

As a rule of thumb, if you ask a question, answer a question. This is what keeps this thread alive and useful.

The Story of A.S. Bèziers - Part 1

The Story of A.S. Bèziers - Part 1

Back in the december i decided to start a game completely random. I did not want to start without team (that evening i was very tired and far away from home) so i decided to pick a random team after clicking 10 times on the UI without watching the result.

The fate has chosen for me the A.S Bèziers, a french team playing in the Championnat National 1.

This is the story of this game, which i ended tonight after 6 seasons and i will remember as one of the most fun playthrough i had with a FM in years.

    The first 2 years 19/20 - 20/21

The A.S. Bèziers is not a bad team to start with. It´s not PSG but it is not completely broke, so i could spend some money to find some cheap good players.

I decided to use a 4-2-3-1 because i like to play very offensive and also to press a lot. Left and right defenders had to play als additional attacking midfielders and at the beginning was very hard to make my players play the way i wanted. Staff and training structures sucked big time and even if i asked, i had no chance to get some improvements... but the faith was very kind to me, because just before starting the first season i could sign the hero i will always remember:

    Yann Kitala

This guy basically destroyed every defenses 2 years in a row.

The other guy who made the first 2 years like a hot knife cutting butter is this one:

    Maxence Toutain

These 2 were brothers and basically killing it. Their jerseys were the most sold and they were the nightmares of every defenses.

After winning the first season it was clear that i could also repeat myself in the second season. I needed some more power, a defender and a new goalkeeper: i was lucky enough to find 2 free transfers who could do the job way better than the players i had.

    Jack Bonham

    https://preview.redd.it/qs41xmpeiop41.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=5f892b71bde9d7ea7161067b873efa6c2754598c

    and

    Anthony Walongwa

Thanks to these guys, things got WAY better. Jack was doing an amazin job and Anthony was among the best defenders in the league. The second season was even more successful than the first. I think i have lost just 4-6 games, mainly because my best players were injured or got too many yellow cards.

After winning the minor leagues, i was ready to play against among the best teams in the french Domino´s League.

    The Domino´s League seasons 21/22 - 24-25

    Season 1

No one was expecting that the little A.S. Bèziers could ever reach the french major league, but here we are. Even the Club was not expecting it, but i have to admit that they were very kind to me. Before the start of the season i could spend some money to find some players: i did not want to sell Kitala and the others, so i decided to go the cheap way by finding some free transfers that wanted to join my little but very nice team. I had to find some defenders and a midfielders: the ones that i had were far from competitive in the Domino´s league.

After a summer spent looking for someone, i could find a bunch of players who could do the job. These guys were not the best, but i was aiming at staying in the Domino´s League just because i did not know how strong where the other teams.

One thing that i have learnt pretty fast is that in the french league there are just a bunch of teams who are strong and that there is one that is actually impossible to beat: PSG. The rest is just filler.

The first season was surprisingly good: i got my face slapped brutally by PSG 2 times (more than 10 goals in 2 games), by Monaco 3 Times (league and national cup), by Marseille 1 time. The rest of the season was just up and downs but i could safe myself pretty easily already in march. The new players who started to shine were 2:

    Selim Ilgaz

    https://preview.redd.it/gb4dntdrpop41.png?width=384&format=png&auto=webp&s=e33f4a0e848536146503227708f2f5bb7d93c59d

    and

    Savas Mourgos.

Their contribute to the success will never be forgotten. At the end of the league in May i ended up at 10 points from a UEFA League position.

So at the end of the season i realized that i could actually aim for something bigger, maybe a UEFA cup qualification in the next season. But my roster was not good enough for the challenge. I needed more firepower in almost any part of the team: the biggest problems were the wingers, that were way to weak.

During the summer i decided to start to gear up a bit more seriously and to spend some money to buy some good players. Finances were very limited, but again the Club gave me a couple of millions that i could invest in some talent.

I also decided that my new northern star goal for this run was also changing: i wanted to beat PSG.

Spoiler alert: things from now on will get pretty wild.

    The best feeling in FM20

After my club legend did his second ACL forcing him into retirement it made me think, what is the saddest thing that has happened in your FM save?

I created a beginners tutorial to FM for those who are picking up for the first time while staying home.
