    This is one of the biggest reasons I've managed 6 (soon to be 7) back to back promotions with my local tier 9 team;

    Spend 10-15 mins each season adding EVERY youth prospect from prem/champ/league 1 teams to your shortlist... yes sounds like a chore but if you sort by 'all player's and then 'agreed playing time' you can easily get into the rhythm. Chose youngsters, future prospects and breakthrough.

    Then, throughout the season get scout reports on those who's contract expires at the end of the season and here you can find the best ones to pick when their contracts expire

    There is a date (forgive me I dont know when - some time in march april) that you can begin to approach to sign to beat other teams to it, so just keep monitoring

    It's honestly a bit of a cheat code. Every year I've signed between 8-15 freebies and at least 1 or 2 have come good. Just sold a kid to palace for 15m that I plucked for free from spurs a couple years ago.my starting 11 consists of about 5 or 6 players from this method foo.
