    Tribute to my father in law

    I've been playing FM (or CM) since 2000, but since I'm traveling/working through Southeast Asia I've never been able to play. This week I've installed it again on my Mac and started a new save with Maria da Fonte, from Póvoa de Lanhoso, Portugal.

    The choice of the club was easy, it was my late father in law's club. He played there and at some time of his life he was the president of the club. It's a very small club and in FM is one of the worst teams on Portugal's 3rd Division, it's an amateur club fighting to survive relegation.

    Just finished the first season, ended up in 2nd place and went to the final of the playoffs! (the two finalists go up to the 2nd Division)

    The board is euphoric, they're going to build a new stadium right away, we're now Semi Pro and just invested €1.1M in training and youth facilities.

    Great days in Póvoa de Lanhoso!

    How to pick a decent penalty taker?

    I'm really having a hard time understanding the FM logic when it comes to picking a decent penalty taker. It certainly doesn't seem to have much to do with the players' attributes, especially 'Penalty Taking'. My former designated taker has 16 Pen, 17 Cmp, and 18 Fin. He's absolutely awful - scored 3 in 8 attempts last season. Whoever I tried picking as a replacement for penalty taking couldn't do much better, and no one was even able to get a 50% conversion ratio - I don't think I have ever played a save with such a bad penalty conversion ratio. So I just decided to have some fun and choose my young goalkeeper as my designated penalty taker. He has 2 Pen, 13 Cmp and 2 Fin. The result? This:

    So really, is this game broken when it comes to penalties? Does anyone else also sees this behaviour, or is this just a freakish thing happening in this save (this is FM17 by the way - it was a multiplayer save, but now we've moved on to FM19 and I just decided to continue this one offline on my own).
