I asked you to make your own Newgen for my FM20 save. Here's how they are doing so far near the end of the 25/26 season

    Posted: 08 May 2022 12:25 AM PDT

    The Introduction

So I've been playing an FM20 save where it's my goal to make the Eredivisie the greatest league. I've "beaten" FM20 playing it fairly, so this save is mostly me fucking around to achieve this end. I'm using the in-game editor with glee. A great moment to have some fun and ask you guys (m/f/x/whatever) to make some newgens.

The only significant rule: A starting CA of 100, a max PA of 160. Your dude can become really good, but not "Ronessi" level good.

    The current situation

The game is currently in March of 2026, so we're well underway into the second half of the season. Here are the players:

The following Redditors and their players:

Drew Peacock is a striker who has spend his whole career with Liverpool. Drew broke into the first team squad in 2022/2023 and has been a reliable squad player ever since. He has thus far made 54 league appearances, scoring 19 times and assisting twice. Not bad for a 21 year old. This universe's Liverpool has not rivaled the real-life Liverpool's success. After winning the Champions League in 2021 Liverpool has regressed into a team which struggles for 6th place in the Premier League. Still though, they won the Carabao Cup in 2024 and Drew was part of that success. His only trophy of note thus far. Has reached his full potential already, despite a major injury (sprained knee ligaments) early in his career. Hasn't had any serious injuries since. A nice start to his career, but probably needs to move to another team to really establish himself.

Litmanen Junior is also a one club man thus far. Started at Ajax, still at Ajax. A starter in 23/24 and 24/25, Litmanen Junior is now mostly a squad player. The Eredivisie is still dominated by my C-A-C, so Ajax has relegated to the status of a team jockeying for second place. They haven't won anything in years, so neither has Litmanen Jr. He did became champions of the Dutch second tier with Jong Ajax in '23. Internationally capped for Finland. Litmanen Jr. is essentially running in the stereotypical Ajax Wonderkid treadmill: Established at an early age, made an impact, but can he make the next step? At 21 he has made 100 appearances in the Eredivisie for Ajax, scoring 17 times and assisting 15 times. Not bad.

Started at PSV. Had his breakthrough season in 22/23 and how sensational it was. 38 matches, 3 goals, 1 assist, 4 times Player of the Match (as a central Defender!). Was bought by Liverpool in the January window of 23/24 for EUR 41.5M. Immediately became a squad player. Was loaned out to Real Betis on Deadline Day of the January window of the 25/26 season where he immediately made the starting eleven, making all possible 5 league apperances and averaging 7.22. Maybe too early to say, but he might have found his level at Real Betis. Is capped 40 times for Romania and, apparently, the most expensive Romanian player of all time. He's doing fine. Hasn't won any trophies yet.

Started at Hodd, was subsequently signed on a free by FC Kobenhavn. A squad player with respectable stats (39 appearances, 20 goals). Not the most prolific striker, but nothing to sneeze at either. Has made it into the Swedish national team. 4 caps, 4 goals. Lethal! A reliable part of a team that has dominated the Danish league since the start of the game. Jung has accumulated more titles than any other player on this list. 3 Danish league titles, 2 Danish cup wins. Seems to be in a decent place at this point in his career: Playing regularly and winning trophies.

Daniel has an interesting career thus far. He started at Belgian club Beerschot in 20/21, was purchased by NAC Breda in 22/23 for 10M. Returned to Belgium to play for Club Brugge in 23/24 where he immediately became integral to the squad. Sold to Bayer Leverkusen early in the 2024/2025 season. He started out well, making 22 league appearances in the 24/25 season. Has been relegated to the bench for 25/26, only making 1 appearance thus far (and we're already in March). Capped 34 tmes for South Africa (5 goals). Is the most expensive South African (according to the game at least) player.

Still only 20 at time of writing. Walter has already made 79 appearances at the highest level, although most of them on loan in LaLiga from starting club Lyon. Is arguably having his breakthrough season at Sevilla with 21 appearances, 5 goals and 3 assists. Has been capped at the U21 level for France. Developed well, at CA155 he is playing close to his full potential. The big question is whether he'll manage to establish himself at Lyon. A transfer to LaLiga might be what he needs to make the next step.

One might make the case that Tim is the greatest player to ever grace the beautiful game, if it wasn't for his abysmal physicals. (Near) 20's in most technical and mental attributes, he started with 1s in all physicals. Tim started at Landskrona BoIS in Sweden and broke into the first team almost immediately. He was then sold to Dutch club SC Heerenveen for 1.5K (yes, K, not M). A sensational return for the money: 8 apps, 2 goals, 2 assists, 2 PoM in his first season in Friesland. Despite having the physical condition of a retiree in the nursing home, Tim established himself as a first team regular. Eventually being sold to Arsenal for EUR 34.5M (amazing return on investment), where he also plays regularly and he's making bank, earning 6M per annum (before taxes) at the Arsenal. Currently having a really great season with 15 appearances, 4 assists, 2 PoM and an average rating of 7.31.

Arguably the inverse player of Tim Vahlbeck. Jason lacks technical skills, but makes up for them by pure physical perfection. Jason started at FC Utrecht (rivals of the C-A-C). He was almost immediately a starter for the Jong FC Utrecht team (a reserve team that plays in the second tier), making the step up to basically undisputed first team starter in 2022/2023. Transferred to PSV Eindhoven on Deadline Day of the January transfer window of the 25/26 season. It appears that he has established himself as a first team starter at PSV as well.

Without a doubt the player who, at the moment of writing, is performing at the highest level of the bunch. Premier League and England national team regular! Started at Arsenal where he made 5 appearances before being sold for EUR 31.5M (English tax much?) to Everton at the start of the 23/24 season. Has been a starter ever since, making 87 league appearances for Everton. Already boasts a trophy haul most would kill for. Everton won the Conference League in 2025, and Noyen was part of the England team that won Euro 2024 and the Nations League in 2025. Has a salary to match his credentials. EUR 8M per annum.

    Some observations:

    • In the six-ish seasons that Newgens have been around for, not a single one was bought by PSG or Madrid. While some players who did not start at one were bought by Premier League teams, even these ones did so after being established at another club.

    • Only one player (Drew Peacock) has already hit his maximum potential. That means he gained 60 ability points within six seasons!

    • Daniel Mizen and Jung Everwaasen developed the least. For Mizen one could argue it's because he spend his early years at clubs with poor facilities in lower reputation leagues. This also applies to Everwaasen, although he quickly joined FC Kobenhavn, a team with >= 17 training facilities. Might also be personality.

Suggestion: New role - Commercial Manager

    Hi,

    (FM21)
Just promoted to the EPL. Risen through the ranks from a newly promoted Welsh team (Merthyr!) in VNL North through a few struggling seasons in VNLN and VNL through back to back promotions to the championship and in the second season I qualified through the playoffs.
A monumental squad building challange lies ahead of me. Reputation is somewhere L1/Championship as it is lagging behind. (Also somewhat annoying as it affects potential signings, player values etc.)

Financially the TV-revenue will give the club a huge injection. But sponsorship income has been constantly lagging behind. And there is nothing I can do about it. The club is signing worthless deals on long term whilst we are climbing the football pyramid. At least let me cancel it for a penalty fee (as in real life).

Being able to hire a commercial manager that can sign more savvy deals would be wonderful.
Or, if you are like me and like micromanaging, being able to control the commercial side as well to a larger extent. Sponsor deals - ticket prices - commercials etc.

It seems like kind of a joke that my sponsorship income would be 7th in the VNL when playing in the EPL.
PS In the screenshot it is in SEK/year

    Jeremi Rodríguez, you little prick.

I loan you out, at your behest, so you can get experience at the club of your choice. Pay over the odds to ensure decent playing time. You come back, refuse to sign a new contract - so now a valuable player is going on a free.

Essentially for the last part of his contract, I gave him the highest intensity training, and in a position he can't play.

    Hope your ankle snaps.

I destroyed my son’s football dreams

    Posted: 08 May 2022 05:45 AM PDT

Let's imagine my surname is Arowosafe. I'm Nigerian. It's a not so-popular-name here, so it definitely won't pop up as a regen name on FM.

Story time: On every FM save, I manage Arsenal. I've tried managing lower division teams, but I just can't connect with them. Honestly, I think I do it so I can win with them since the real Arsenal can't win. But I digress.

Three years into my FM 18 Arsenal save, a regen named Chinedu Arowosafe from Nigeria came in through my Youth Intake. I thought it was a nice, fun touch by FM to create a regen with my surname, but didn't think too much about it. He was a striker with 1.5 star potential ability, so I wasn't going to be using him anyways.

At some point in that season though, in cup games against small teams where I thought I'd win, I put him on the bench and made him come on when I was a couple goals up. It was nice to see someone with my surname play for Arsenal. He made a total of four appearances and scored a goal in every game.

Still, a 1.5 star potential striker? No plans for him.

Fast forward to three years later. I've won the Champions League with Arsenal. I've won everything. I'm going through my personal accomplishments in game and I see something that strikes me — "2021: Son, Chinedu Arowosafe joins Arsenal."

Wait a second. What do you mean, "son"? HE WAS MY SON???

Quickly, I search for him. He doesn't exist in the game anymore. I go back to accomplishments to try and click on his name. Not clickable.

Apparently, his contract at Arsenal ran out and since nobody signed him, he… quit football???

I couldn't stop thinking about it for days, so I did what every good father would do. I renamed my favourite regen striker "Chinedu Arowosafe". And that's how it was until he retired.
