Game Dramatization I think, I dont know. Just imagining this scene while playing

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 06:58 PM PDT

Its 2AM and my phone beeping faintly, a single message come. I glanced and see a name. Peter Orta, the general manager. A simple message, "We got offer for Struijk. Will talk bout this tomorrow morning." The offer must be something he consider reasonable. I just keep it in my mind tonight.

This season is a dream. Our Leeds side is cruising in league and we challenge for European Cup with our midfields trio, Kalvin, Struijk, and Shackleton.

This season Struijk step up replacing Klich in the midfield who move to Spartak Moskow for twenty million pounds. Struijk was signed as defender but now he destroy opposition midlfielder and already scoring three goals with his sheer physicality.

Tomorrow in the morning, it's still 6 o'clock, I enter the building and finding Orta already here with a big mug of coffee. Maybe he sleep here I thought. He meet me and whisper, suppressing his emotion "Thirty million pounds with clausal up to forty two, Chinesse League giant".

He look tired but you could always see a fire in his eyes. He must be already assesing all the name we could recruit with that sum of extra transfer budget.

We walk to the meeting room.

"We got Kenneh and Jenkins." I said. Both are our academy players. They already train with senior team this season. "We already blood Kenneh as Struijk backup, but not this fast. My plan is to give him more playing time next season. Jenkins not as strong defensively but he got better toolset in final third." "Not this fast." I whisper .

Orta still standing with his coffee. "I know. They just throwing money to us." "And I believe his agent already involved. It's going to be hard to reject."

    I sip my coffee.

This is a really big bet. He is our most consistent midfielder. Harrying opposition and providing good ball to Kalvin and Shackleton. He is our Kante with extra muscles.

"You already got names?" I ask him.

He smile, his eyes widen. I know he already had.

"Kovacic and Diallo, both transfer listed".

Chelsea's silky running midfielder and PSG's centre back build like an ox. Not an apple to apple, but a good deal if it could work for us challenging European competition.

Both name already in our radar but we already spend a good chunk of our transfer budget on Kudus and Iheanacho. If we got Kovacic and Diallo it will be extra squad depth but it will mean pushing Kenneh,19 years old, straight to the first team in the middle of the season. Sounds crazy plan, its winter transfer and we going to let one of our key player go.

"Give me a day" I said. "Sure, and I will contact Chelsea and PSG, just in case." He replied.

"Crazy isn't it." He said again.

    Surely it is.

Revised American Pyramid + CONCACAF Competitions (FM 2021 Edition)

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 09:39 AM PDT

    Hi there,

It's been a while. You may remember me from last year's database edits for FM 2020 featuring a regionalized American Pyramid that spawned an extremely fun challenge from USL club /u/forwardmadisonfc!

While I've spent less time on database editing this year, I've been working slowly on a revised American pyramid and subsequent revision to CONCACAF club competitions that I feel like - while probably still featuring some bugs/changes needed - are in a place where I'm comfortable sharing with people to enjoy.

These databases are meant to be used together, I've never tried to use them individually without using both and they may not work individually!

I'll tell you a bit about each database here and then post both the Google Drive link to the editor files as well as the Steam Workshop link for both!

    REVISED AMERICAN PYRAMID V2

    PURPOSE

This is a simple, revised U.S. pyramid consisting of four tiers of 24 teams each with pro/rel between them. This pyramid uses existing clubs with some altered characteristics (reputation, bank balance, transfer budget) so that each club at each tier starts on equal financial and reputation footing, with descending amounts for each tier.

NOTE, I STRONGLY SUGGEST CHECKING THE SETTING THAT ADDS PLAYERS TO PLAYABLE TEAMS. MANY OF THE PREVIOUSLY UNPLAYABLE TEAMS HAVE INCOMPLETE ROSTERS

    CALENDAR

The season shifts to a European-style calendar to match the CONCACAF competitions, beginning in early August and ending in early May with a season reset date of June 30 each year. Transfer windows are the full month of January and the full summer period of July 1-August 31.

    SETUP

The four tiers are as follows:

    • American Premier Division (Tier 1) - MLS clubs, minus a few
    • American Championship Division (Tier 2) - Remaining MLS clubs, independent USL Championship clubs minus a few
    • American First Division (Tier 3) - Remaining independent USL Championship clubs, independent USL League One clubs, NISA clubs, plus a few higher-end amateur clubs
    • American Second Division (Tier 4) - Best amateur clubs from USL2/NPSL
American Premier Division American Championship Division American First Division American Second Division
Atlanta United Austin FC Austin Bold AFC Ann Arbor
Chicago Fire Birmingham Legion Cal United ASC San Diego
FC Cincinnati Charleston Battery Charlotte Independence Asheville City SC
Colorado Rapids Colorado Springs Switchbacks Chattanooga Red Wolves Brazos Valley Cavalry
Columbus Crew El Paso Locomotive Chattanooga FC Dayton Dutch Lions
D.C. United Hartford Athletic Cleveland SC Des Moines Menace
FC Dallas Indy Eleven Detroit City FC Duluth FC
Houston Dynamo Inter Miami CF Flint City Bucks FC Arizona
LA Galaxy Las Vegas Lights Greenville Triumph FC Baltimore Christos
LAFC Louisville City FC Jacksonville Armada FC Buffalo
Minnesota United FC Memphis 901 FC LA Force FC Motown
Montreal Impact Miami FC Forward Madison Fort Wayne FC
New England Revolution Nashville SC Michigan Stars Little Rock Rangers
New York Red Bulls New Mexico United New Amsterdam FC Long Island Rough Riders
New York City FC North Carolina FC NJ Teamsters Miami United
Orlando City Oklahoma City Energy New York Cosmos Minneapolis City
Philadelphia Union Orange County SC Oakland Roots New Orleans Jesters
Portland Timbers Phoenix Rising FC Union Omaha PDX FC
Real Salt Lake Pittsburgh Riverhounds Reno 1868 FC Reading United
San Jose Earthquakes Sacramento Republic Richmond Kickers San Francisco City
Seattle Sounders San Antonio FC San Diego 1904 San Francisco Glens
Sporting KC San Diego Loyal St. Louis FC The Villages
Toronto FC Tampa Bay Rowdies Stumptown Athletic Tulsa Athletic
Vancouver Whitecaps Tulsa FC Tormenta FC Western Mass Pioneers

    ROSTER RULES

All tiers have identical matchday rules featuring 30-man roster limits and a requirement of 5 Homegrown (3 years trained in nation between 0-21) players in the match-day 18-man roster. Kept restrictions low here to encourage more fun gameplay, higher standards felt too restrictive.

    PRIZE MONEY/PROMOTION & RELEGATION

All tiers have prize money based on finishing position in tiers (winner, top four, top half, bottom half, relegated) as well as parachute payments for relegated clubs.

Tiers 2-4 promote three clubs per season - two automatically and one via a four-team playoff of clubs placed 3rd-6th. Tiers 1-3 relegate three clubs per season automatically based on finishing position.

    LOWER DIVSIONS

All clubs feature U23 and U18 teams. All "2" clubs are removed from the database. Lower divisions remain relatively untouched and unplayable to add diversity to friendlies and complete USOC (Note that Charlotte FC exists in the lower divisions, but will never leave them as they weren't yet set to enter MLS).

REVISED CUPS AND ADDITIONAL CUP COMPETITIONS

USOC re-formatted, consists of every single pro and lower-division club in the game (384 teams). 288 Lower-division clubs play four qualifying rounds and 32 advance to first round proper where all pro teams enter. Pure knockout from there forward. All qualifying and regular rounds feature ascending prize money.

Also smaller supplemental cups added (American League Cup for tier 1 only, American Independent Cup for tiers 2-4). Both award ascending prize money.

American Challenge Cup is a SuperCup style competition between USOC and American Premier Division winners to open the season in early August.

CONCACAF - US PYRAMID MERGER V1.0

    PURPOSE

This database revises continental competitions for CONCACAF into a new two-tiered structure in which every nation in the region has representation at each level. The upper tier is the CONCACAF Champions League and the lower tier is the CONCACAF American League

For a very fun time, download nation database packs for top CONCACAF countries and watch them develop over time via money from this competition! I typically run the top ten pyramids.

NOTE, CANADIAN TEAMS IN THE AMERICAN PYRAMID QUALIFY VIA AMERICAN SPOTS AND TAKE PART IN THE AMERICAN CUP COMPETITIONS. CANADIAN SPOTS GO TO CANADIAN PYRAMID TEAMS FROM THE CPL

    FORMAT

Both tiers follow same format, but with different nation representation at each level.

64 Total Clubs with decreasing representation based on nation reputation (i.e. US & MEX have 4 clubs each for CCL, St. Pierre has 1, etc.). Prize money per stage (group stage awards prize money per win/draw).

    1. 16 groups of 4 clubs, six matches and top two teams advance
    2. Round of 32 (First Round)
    3. Round of 16 (Second Round)
    4. Quarterfinals
    5. Semifinals
    6. Finals

All rounds are single-leg, hosted by one of the clubs until the final, held at a neutral venue (MetLife for CCL, AT&T Stadium for CAL).

Participating clubs for the 2020/2021 edition are set based on results from prior season where available and club reputation where unavailable.

    SQUAD RULES

Substitutes are 3 from 7 + 1 extra time sub. There is a maximum team size of 30 able to be registered for the competition. Clubs are required to submit registered rosters prior to group stage and again prior to knockout stage, no roster adjustments during each section.

    I hate Bournemouth.

    Posted: 22 Jun 2021 07:38 AM PDT

Recently got back into football manager again after not playing for a year or two, so I decided to take over my team Derby County on fm21 as a way of finally getting them some success.

First season expectations are low from the board, they only want us to avoid a relegation battle. Easy enough I thought given the youth players that have already broken into the first team and will only get better

The season starts average however soon picks up into a real promotion charge and by the end of the year I manage to get Derby to finish in 3rd place on a fantastic 91 points, much more than I honestly expected however behind Norwich who get 94 for second and Brentford who got 103 in first. First round of the playoffs and we play 6th place Bournemouth, who after winning the first leg 1-0 manage to hold me to a 2-2 draw in the second leg and send us crashing out.

Bournemouth then lose the final, fuck you Bournemouth! I think to myself.

Second season starts and expectations are high, I'm thinking we should get automatic promotion after how well last year went. We start off the season on fire and halfway through we have 54 points, however relegated Sheffield United and Burnley are also over 50 points and keeping the gap close.

Goals dry up in the middle of the season and we finish in 3rd place for the second season running, this time on 92 points with Sheffield United on 98 and Burnley on 101. Gutted that we missed automatics for the second season running on 90+ points, we gear up for the playoffs again.

Bournemouth finish 5th in the table.

Semi finals of the playoffs and we play Bristol city, a 2-2 away draw is brought home and we blow away City 3-0 in the second leg to win 5-2. Bournemouth also do similar against arch rivals Nottingham Forest.

At this point I would have rather played forest in the final if I'm honest.

Final day arrives and it's last season's beaten finalist Vs the team that they beat to get to that losing final.

We get soundly beat 2-0 and are consigned to a 3rd straight season into the championship, after two seasons that in 90% of circumstances would have got us automatically promoted in either, let alone both.

At least with Bournemouth in another division I won't have to worry about them ruining my hopes and dreams for a third straight season running, for now.

Did I mention that I fucking hate Bournemouth?

Craziest comeback I've ever seen. Lost the first game 1-4, won the second tie after a 96th minute own goal brought it to added time where a 120th minute goal was disallowed.

After starting from Scotland in the 3rd division with nothing, roaming through 5 nations, managing 11 clubs, winning 54 trophies, experiencing immense joys and heartbreaks. Finally 31 years later, on top of the world. I guess now is a good time to retire.
