We all get to the point where we obsessively sign players and have about 30 out on loan... right?

Well I finally did it, from the 7th tier to CL winners using only dutch & youth players

So a bit of context I set myself a challenge of bringing back an old historic dutch team back to their former glories. The team in question is quite special as they have won the Eredivise ten times, but haven't won it since 1914, they are also notable for being awarded the "Koninklijke" by Queen Juliana in 1978 for their pioneering role, for these reasons I just felt I had to do this. Using only dutch players and youth academy players.

my most insane FM achievement. Predicted to come 16th pre season, finished 1st with no save scumming

    Interesting way to get injured

Danny Welbeck... Again? Noo... Can't be. This guy's out of contract at the end of the season, 2 star, 33 y/o. But still showing Haaland how it's done. I think my save is broken.

The Story of my Journeyman career so far:

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 06:29 PM PDT

    • Started out in the Job Centre looking for anyone that would hire some bloke with no prior experience or qualifications.

    • 🟡🔵Grorud- A Norwegian second division side were the most desperate so I went there. Spent 1 and half seasons there, leading them to the playoff final where we would subsequently bottle.

    • 🔵🔵Stabaek- Got the big move to the Norwegian Premier Division. Spent two very enjoyable, yet still bottlejobby years there, taking them from mid table obscurity to two 2nd place finishes as well as 2 Norwegian Cup Final losses to bloody Bodo. Highlight was beating Villarreal in the Europa League II qualifiers.

    • 🔵⚫️Inter Milan- Dont ask me how I got this job. The Inter owners must've been scouring Norway for some young, trophyless managers, either that or my reputation for playing defensive football reminded them of the Italian teams of old. Spent 3 great years at Inter, winning a league and Cup double in my first year with them. My regen Mangili is probably my favourite player ever. But just when I thought my bottlejob days were over, In my third season, we go on to lose both the cup final and champions league final while finishing second, forcing me to resign with my tail between my legs.

    • 🏴𠁧𠁢𠁥𠁮𠁧𠁿 England- After that disaster I wanted a new challenge . I spent two years with England winning them their first ever Nations league and the Jewel in the crown, the Euros, beating Italy 4-0 in the final.

    • 🔵🔵Chelsea- My reputation was never higher after the Euros and I really wanted to win the big honours so I joined Chelsea. After a good first season taking them to 4th in the prem, a disastrous second season left me sacked in January sat in 11th.

    • 🔵⚪️ Napoli- After my first sacking I wanted somewhere I knew, so went back to Italy. I'm currently 3 seasons in and have won 3 Serie A's and 2 Coppa Italias. I love Napoli as a club and would love to stay and become a legend but realistically I want to win the UCL and if a bigger club comes sniffing I will probably jump ship

Braintree Town with about 100GB of graphics/logo/face-packs installed. I'm not even managing them. Just a random team I was checking out because I have a player loaned out to them. This is what peak FM looks like.

The reason why you shouldn't trust the Value. Yeah, i just paid 1.4m Euro for this .. yeah. Just fckd up my finances. (Playing as Buriram UTD, Thailand). Yes i didn't scout.

Yes I know FM has lots of options for sorting and viewing your squad but also yes, I took the time to do this anyway

I feel bad for Lyon and they´re not even my team.

I feel bad for Lyon and they´re not even my team.

Story: just finished my 7th season on my save in FM2020 (5 seasons with Benfica and the last two with Bayern). As I´m sure many of you do, I also pay atention to what is happening on the other leagues I´ve selected, out of curiosity, of course, but also to help me decide where should I go when I want to move to a new club. In France, as expected, PSG has been steamrolling everyone with 9 consecutive titles, even winning three consecutive titles with more than 100 points. However, there were 2 seasons, shown in the screenshots, where they came really close to lose the title, both to Lyon. And here´s why I feel sorry for them. In both seasons, Lyon reached the last day of the league ahead of Psg. In the first one (2020/21), they had a two point lead. Their final game was preciselly against PSG, in their home. They lost 2-0 and saw PSG grab the title from their hand in their own stadium. Fast forward to the last season (2025/26); Lyon in front again, this time by just one point and with an away match against mid-table Lorient. Victory is well within their grasp, and so is the title and the end of PSG´s dominance...or so it seemed. A 1-1 draw combined with PSG´s victory over Reims saw PSG win the title again, thus continuing their reign and leaving Lyon to mourn another failed atempt. And who knows when the next chance will be.

All this to say I actually feel sorry for them because it´s really hard to compete with PSG, especially in a regular season format, and to come so close twice and fail makes me wonder when will they finally lose?

Anyway, sorry for the long story, I just thought it was something funny to share.

Always warn a player after a bad performance, it's really powerful.

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 03:04 AM PDT

Clickbaity title aside. But this is something i've known for a while now, and something I really want to share with the rest of the mob.

The tip is really simple. IF your player has a 6.4 or lower rating across the game, give them an official warning.

Why, you might ask? There's three things that might happen.

1: The player gets angry if you fine them. This is more likely if you give them a monetary fine, rather than just a slap on the wrist. It tends to happen to more volatile personalities. (This is rare when you warn them under 6.4, though. And just a warning won't cause issues, just a 1-tick lower morale.

2: The player accepts the warning without comment. | Nothing happens, the player is warned and life goes on.

3: The player apologizes and promises to motivate themselves more in the future. | This is the gravy train, because this gives the player an INSTANT +1 at either work rate or determination.

Example: Bjorn is 25 and has been warned twice (6.4 and 6.3 game) in the past three games, and as a result he's found his work rate and determination improve by +1 as a result.

!This works at any age, on any player, at any level of work rate/determination!

As you know, those two skills are really hard to improve organically, and this is one way to really give you as a coach more ability to coach up players with poor attitudes in being just a little bit better.

    Caveats:

    • 6.4 (and lower) is the sweet spot. 6.5 is possible too, but it increases the chances of the player being offended, <6.4 is the sweet spot you want to aim for.

    • Fines are a risk/reward, the risk is a higher chance for a player feeling unfairly treated and causing issues. The reward being a more likely chance for the player to apologize and get that +1 bonus.

    • (Rare) There's also a super rare chance that after a string of punishments, the assistant manager will come to you noting a change in attitude from the player in question. Whilst I haven't checked this in editor, I assume this is a general improvement across the board. Call this the cherry on the sundae if it happens.
