The 2028/29 Premier League final day as it happened

The 2028/29 Premier League final day as it happened

How the league looks on the final day

37 games couldn't divide Cardiff and Tottenham as we head into the final game of the Premier League 2028/29 season. Looking for their 5th title in a row Cardiff head into the final day needing a slip up at the simply named Tottenham Hotspur stadium as Spurs face 14th placed West Ham, or an 8 goal swing to win the league in dramatic fashion on goal difference.

The title race takes on additional spice as current Cardiff manager Thirdrate Squash led Spurs to their first title and champions league triumph before signing for Cardiff in a move that angered the Spurs support who labelled him a traitor. Since then, Squash has led Cardiff to triumph after triumph but seems to have been matched by Jurgen Klopp in his 3rd year in the Hotspurs hotseat.

    How the season progressed

    The Key Men

The key men for both sides sum up the teams, both packed with elite level talent. While Cardiff are younger and filled with more flair and eccentricity, Tottenham rely on pace, power, and a ruthless efficiency brought on only by experience.

    Cardiff

    Bigger Mangala

An £84 million signing from Arsenal in January 2028 Bigger Mangala has developed into one of Europe's finest forwards. Bagging 24 goals in all competitions the Frenchman's speed, finishing, and strength could be key to Cardiff snatching the title on the final day.

    Bigger Mangala

    Ezequiel Meoni

Eyebrows were raised in the summer of 2028 when Cardiff sold main striker Jonatan Menna to Bayern Munich but any doubts over replacement Ezequiel Meoni have been dispelled after an absolutely tremendous season that saw him push Sebastiano Esposito all the way to Barcelona as he claimed his starting spot. A tall, athletic striker with an eye for a pass, goalscoring instinct, and a penchant for the sublime has seen Meoni pick up 30 G+A in all competitions this season.

    Ezequiel Meoni

    Rene Olofsson

A blockbuster £101 million signing from Manchester City in January 2029, Argentinian striker Rene Olofsson is coolness personified in front of goal, clinical with the ball at his feet and absolutely dedicated to the game, so much so it is rumoured he shaves his head to "reduce aerodynamic drag" when sprinting, Rene Olofsson is a global superstar and the jewel in the Cardiff City attack.

    Rene Olofsson

    Lewis Williams

A childhood Cardiff City fan from Merthyr Tydfil Lewis Williams (pictured with former Cardiff manager Neil Warnock following a visit in October 2023) stepped off the canton stand terraces and onto the Cardiff City Stadium pitch via Spurs following a succession of loans which led to a £5 million signing in July 2024. Since then, the diminutive attacking midfielder has gone on to become a Cardiff legend, still only 23 the Welshman has room to grow but is already one of world football's brightest talents. He describes the Cardiff captaincy as "a responsibility and honour above all others in [his] career".

    Lewis Williams

    Tottenham Hotspur

    Ruben Dias

Going into his 9th season with Spurs 31-year-old Portuguese defender and club captain Ruben Dias is seeking his 3rd Premier League winners medal after a 7-year wait. Strength, power, guile, and tremendous passing ability sum up this titan at the heart of the Tottenham defence.

    Ruben Dias

    Gianluigi Donnarumma

Also going into his 9th season at Tottenham Hotspur after a free transfer in the summer of 2021 Gianluigi Donnarumma has been ever present in the Tottenham net since replacing Hugo Lloris. Still only 30-years-old Donnarumma still has many years left in the game but will be desperate for his 3rd Premier League title.

    Gianluigi Donnarumma

    Erling Haaland

A player who has exploded into life following 5 successful if disappointing season in Tottenham white. The Norwegian hitman has 47 G+A in 2028/29 and is looking to add the golden boot to the Premier League title. This season Haaland is the bridesmaid who has become the bride, standing out as a gleaming jewel in a team littered with stars.

    Erling Haaland

    Kylian Mbappe

World football's brightest star and Tottenham legend Kylian Mbappe, you know who he is, you've seen his goals, he's 30 but hasn't lost a millimeter of pace. The man simply rinses everyone he comes up against.

72' GOAL And a minute later there's a goal at Peter Whittingham Park but it's Arsenal who've clawed a goal back! A throw-in on the right-hand side isn't defended nearly well enough and Mason Holgate whips a ball straight onto Admilson's boot to make it 2-2

Draw Man Utd 4 times in a row in Champions League Group Stage, what's the odds?

The year is 2037. AIK has 158 former players who are still active. Here is where they ended up in the world using very low definition maps.

Only in football manager would this happen

Holy shit as a new player this game is really complicated and hard...

    Posted: 15 May 2021 08:48 AM PDT

    ...and I love it!

Sorry for the clickbaity title but it it what it is. The game is really complex and as someone who just started to develop an interest in football I obviously don't bring in any real live experience.

But I really love it so far. Coming from games like Path of Exile, Eve Online, Rimworld and Dwarf Fortress (and many more) I'm no stranger to theory crafting, spreadsheets and failure.

I just started with a club in the 3rd Bundesliga and having a lot of fun. My first friendly games were good so far. Though as of now I'm delegating a lot of stuff to my staff.

What do you think I should manage my self as a new player? Do you have any tips for a brand new FM player and brand new football enthusiast?

    Cheers!

been thinking a great addition could be some sort of hall of fame you could make for your favourite players, like a place on the start screen where you can add all ur legends from different careers and it shows their stats for you n that kind of thing, always wanted this cos i have some incredible players from all different saves

    Heard it here first

    Posted: 15 May 2021 05:27 PM PDT

Are the majority of shouts received well?

    Posted: 15 May 2021 06:01 PM PDT

When I use my Shouts to talk to the team during a match, I find that "Get Creative", "Show Some Passion", and "Demand More" are the only ones that get a positive reaction, to the extent they're typically the only ones I'll use even if we're a few goals ahead.

One that makes sense to me is to shout "Concentrate" if my team have let a goal in due to complacency, but this always goes down like a tonne of bricks and they complain.
