Accidental substitution

Today I finished the 23/24 season in my current save. After a couple of seasons of being humiliated in Europe I had got to the UEFA Cup final with Feyenoord, against AC Milan. We took the lead on the 25th minute with a neat half volley from Sanchez, my lone striker.

Then a minute later the sausage fingered human at the controls substituted him off for our 18 year old 5th choice centre back. I didn't want to use up another substitution fixing my fuckup, so I left him on the field. And I left him at centre forward because I didn't want to disrupt the rest of the lineup (any further).

And five minutes later the jammy fucker scored a tap-in 🤪

2-0. Boom. Champions ☺️

I was managing Palmeiras(SEP) in Brazilian Serie A and I had a terrible striker named Deyverson. But just like in real life, he was kind of overvalued for his jumping height and agression. He costed too much and I got a good deal on a replacer. His squad status was lowered and he sarted to ask for more appearances. So I put him in transfer list, since he still had 2,5 years left on contract. He didn't like it at first, but then accepted it. The fans mostly hated my decision, but since I was doing well on matches, it was ok. His current value was €9M. I don't remember the wage, but it was one of the highest.

Sport(SPT) was pointed as interested in him! They were battling for a place in the Sulamericana Cup (aka S. America's Europa League). They had low resources, so I offered them the player as loan for the end of the season (4mo) then with a mandatory fee worth 75% of the player value. It was ok because that value woudn't get higher and his wage was one of the biggest of the team. I had to get him out in any way I could..

They negociated and we settled for 55% of his value and mandatory if he appeared in a fairly low number of games. All acepted and he went to be a key player there. Without his bad influence inside the lockerrom and with new blood, I was doing pretty great, despite the complete revolting feedback I got from this deal from the fans and the club chairmans.

And Sport? They went downhill... Until the end of the season, Deyverson was in almost all games as first team player, scored 1 goal and got two red cards. The team finished last on the league and got relegated. But he had to bought, they didn't have a choice. And his wage there was 30% of their entire squad. And they got relegated in serie B on the next season, with their financial status going from inicially ok to insecure. And in the next season they got relegated to serie C, with Deyverson no longer playing as first team player, but still there in his 4 YEARS CONTRACT.

Sport is usually a serie A team that sometimes get relegated, but comes back fast. So, I basically bankrupted them and ruined any chances to get above serie C for a good time... With one player!
