Think I accidenlly found a transfer loophole with loan backs

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 07:49 PM PDT

Was managing Ebbsfleet in the Vanarama National League at the beginning of my second season. My two best players get big offers from League 1/2 clubs. Portsmouth offer 700k for Jordan Cox, 350k for Jack Lee forget which club. They will kick up a fuss and it's a lot of money for my level so I agree but insist on a loan back of 1 year. I have terrible scouting an no time to replace them.

We win the Vanarama National and as I'm scouting for their replacements my scouts reccomend Jordan Cox to me while he's still on loan in my squad. Wtf? Apparently the club I sold him to only gave him 1 year deal which was obviously the 1 year he spent on loan with me. I checked and it was the same for Jack Lee. So after selling them the season before for a combined +1m, I resigned them at the end of the season on frees.

You go into the new signing press conference and the journos are all like 'It's so and so's second spell at Ebbsfleet', even though they played every game last season here and never even visited their new League 2 club. Free money. It feels like cheating so I won't do it again but I'll let it go this save.

Happiest you've been selling a key player

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 05:56 AM PDT

In my second season at the mighty Dorking Wanderers and currently top of the Vanarama South. My key centre back is Simon Kozak valued at £8.5k, brought in on a free in my first season and fairly recently put on an actual contract of over a year. Championship clubs came sniffing and I managed to negotiate Barnsley to £150k. Board naturally accepted on my behalf, but it completely wiped out the club debt and I'd already identified and brought in a replacement. I'm never usually happy letting a big player go, but everything went right here!
