    I just won the Premier League with Leeds! It's my first league title ever! And we did it by winning after an amazing comeback in the last game like Manchester City in 11/12 season ^^

    [FM20] Bambesch Forest | Luxembourg Build A Nation | Season 5

    If you haven't seen or read previous seasons, I'll list the links here. Season 4. This post also links to the first three seasons. Also my squad overview for season 5 is here.

    Europe

    When you last left us we had bottled our chance at a title last season, however we were still able to qualify for the European Conference League, which is like the Europa League 2.0. Our first draw had us face Armenian side Alashkert. Our first leg we comfortably beat them 4-0, away from home we lost 1-0 but we progressed to the next round with a handy bit of prize money awarded to us.

    New signings Lavery and Hernandez had braces to secure us the win.

    Next round we faced totally European Kazakhstan side Tobol, they proved to be too strong for us. It wasn't the fact we lost that got me upset but it was the way in which we did it. The first leg away from home we managed to score three, I thought we were for sure home and dry but Tobol had other ideas.

    They clawed three back, we took it to penalties but unfortunately our left back Hodzic missed. I'm pretty happy with the result though and I'm proud of the team for getting this far.

    The prize money from the two rounds amounted to about 200K so the club is now at a healthy place financially. It would be even more lucrative to get to the Champions League but we have to win the league for that first. Before I tell you about how we got on in the league, let's talk about the cup... our favourite competition.

    Cup

    We did one better than last year, getting to the quarter final but being beaten by fellow national division side Una Strassen. I'm really annoyed at our performances in the cup, we always seem to have one game where we forget how to play.

    January Transfer Window

    I thought I'd give a quick overview of the signings and departures of the January window as there is always something that happens. In the departures We had (CB) Launay and (CM) Gleeson leave but I didn't sign anyone to replace them. We also had two of our left backs in Hodzic and Pagerie leave us. This left me with having to sign two left backs, which I did.

    Harouna Sy / 27 / Mauritanian / DL

    Sy has solid stats all around, a quick player. He will be battling with our other signing for a place in the team.

    Tamas Nadj / 22 / Hungarian / DL

    A similar player to Sy but six years younger. Nadj will be a bench player for now but with good performances he could become a first team player.

    Igor Rodrigues / 28 / Portuguese / GK

    Igor is the other major signing I had in the window. He's superior to Rouyard in every stat and it would be stupid not to sign him, even if I have a soft spot for Rouyard.

    The League

    We left our demons of last season behind us and won the league! Fairly comfortably in the end. We confirmed the title with three games to go and were around 9/10 points ahead of everyone else for months. We were fantastic but the teams around us slipped up as well.

    Here's the league table.

    Racing, our biggest rivals losing 10 games was the main reason we won so comfortably. Dudelange who are the biggest team in Luxembourg irl struggled at the start of the season before pulling it together. Racing, Differdance, and Progres make up the European places with us in the Champions League.

    I'm delighted to have won the league, and without much opposition but that could easily change next season. We also made a cool (just shy) 200K from winning the league.

    Just wait till you see the prize money from the Champions League next season.

    Plans for the future.

    I got a comment on my squad overview about the lack of Luxembourg players in my team, and if this was a building a nation save why wouldn't I have them? Well this is a very long term save and I plan on getting a sustaniable source of income (ie: Champions League prize money) so I can upgrade my facilities and produce good youth players and attract good Luxembourg players. Right now most national players on the Luxembourg team aren't interested so I need to raise the reputation of the club as well. Here's how I see the timeline working.

    Get Prize Money > Upgrade Facilities > Produce Luxembourg Players > Integrate them into the team.

    I also have dreams of winning the league with only Luxembourg players, maybe even a European trophy! (Very unlikely...) I also had the idea of taking over another team in Luxembourg and have that be our second team but that's just an idea and it would be very down the road.

    So I hope that answers that question. Next season we'll see how we do in the Champions League. Also I won't be doing a squad overview every season, just every couple of them when the team significantly changes. Until next time.

    has anybody ever had a phantom goal? no initial highlight, no goal icon appearing on the timeline and it wont let you click on the time of the goal to take you there? ( I went to the 80th Minute and there was no goal to be seen, lost me top in the table too!!) a whole new meaning to being FM'd...
