    "Oh...ok...that's, nice?"

He was in his 70s, and to be fair, he was impressed that I knew the stadium name and approximate capacity.

Don't think he knew what FM was. We met through a work meeting which was not going any further so thought why not try and put my name in the running for a future real management role?

I've already proved I can do the job from home.

One thing I've learnt in my time on FM is to appreciate the good times, because when the bad times arrive, you'll want to throw your laptop out the window.

I had always wanted to do a proper long term Unemployed/No Experience save, so this is the story of my first 5 seasons doing just that.

Loaded up the majority of the European leagues top divisions, with only the UK and Ireland going down to the lowest leagues and then big outside Europe leagues on view only.

My first Job came in December at Pontypridd in the lowest league in Wales. It was a tough start and with the club rock bottom in the league and already in financial turmoil I only managed to bring in a few players and adapted a long ball 442 formation. I finished up the season finishing in mid table and saving them from the drop, turning down a new deal to move onto pastures new. No coaching courses so far as they turned them down due to the financial issues.

Not long after leaving I got an interview with newly promoted into the National League North, Stourbridge. After nailing the interview and getting offered a one year deal I got the job. With no staff and only a very few amount of players, I had basically a clean slate to build and hit the target of bravely battling against relegation. After a long tough season of inconsistency I managed to guide them to an 18th place finish. After again having my attempt at a coaching course turned down, this time due to a fear I'll leave for a better job if I do the course (I will haha), I decided to cautious accept their offer of a new 2 year deal hoping I'd get a course soon.

Season 2 at Stourbridge started off with a summer of frustration picking up mediocre cast offs and loans from my now parent club Walsall. Again predicted to battle relegation I was surprised to hit a lot more consistency and guided the team to a 10th places finish, mainly due to top scorer Emmanuel Amissah topping the leagues scoring charts with 30+ goals in 46 games. I was pushing for the playoffs after spending a while in 6th but dropped off in the end due to a drop in form at the end of the season.

The club was starting to haemorrhage money, despite me staying with all my budgets, a small fan base and lack of funding the leading causes. Still yet to receive a coaching course I decided my third season with Stourbridge would be my last. After a brilliant start the team was undefeated in 3rd place in the league. I started to rack up some defeats and draws and slowly dropped into mid table. I began to get frustrated with the amount of goals I was conceding from outside the area with my trusted route one 442. So inspite of my better judgement I changed my style to a 433 DM wide using pressing wing play...and boy was it a mistake, after a massive drop in form with the new system the club was in free fall and dropped 20th in the table, the dreaded vote of confidence meeting was called and I was given 5 games to get 7points to save my job. After reverting back to the 442, and getting a draw and 2 wins in the first 3 of those games my job was saved. I continued them to grab a few wins and moved back up to mid table. With 10 games to go a push for the playoffs was on the cards. Then again, poor form seemed to strike and in the final 10 games I picked up 1 point. After an 18th place finish I was again called into a meeting, after accusing the board of being unrealistic with expectations and sacking me would leave the club in disarray...I was sacked, with only one month to go on my contract. Probably should have resigned, as now the sacking had given me a minor drop in reputation.

So at the end of 4 seasons I was unemployed again, with no coaching badge to my name but a 15% rep and some decent upgrades in my stats. I applied for job after job, not getting hired after a plethora of interviews, I began to become disheartened, when to my surprise bottom of the Irish Premier league Derry City came knocking. With 2 star reputation I couldn't turn them down despite really wanting to stay in England. So with 10 games to go in their short 36 match season, I was back in the game. They seemed to have a decent squad and just had gotten caught up in a bad run of form. Good news as I got accepted onto my first coaching course after just a day in the job. After hiring an entire back room staff and deciding to try out a 4231 gegenpress, I started well with 4 wins from my first 5 games and pushing the team out of the 2 relegation places (one of them a play off) up to 7th in the table of 10

So that's where I am, who knows where it will go next, hopefully I can push on with Derry and rise the leagues and avoid another sacking!

(Extra Details: Attribute masking on. No downloading of tactics, training, set pieces etc. No genie's for scouting etc)
