@footymanagermemes on his Twitter and Instagram feeds often posts pictures taken straight from this subreddit with a same/similar caption and I've never seen him give any credit. He's taking the posts to be his own. If your post has been on the hot page of this subreddit recently, chances are it's on his account as well.

The year is 2047. A lot has happened in the next 30ish years. pt. 1 Current Manager Edition

    Posted: 20 Oct 2020 11:20 AM PDT

One of my favourite parts of the game is seeing where managers end up in FM. Here I've went through the 2020 Premier League clubs and found out how their career panned out.

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal. Premier League 2020, 5th. 2021, 7th. Achievements: 2020 Europa League, 2021 FA Cup, 2021 Community Shield

Sacked after losing to Bayer Leverkusen in the second knockout round in 2022 of the Europa. Made some big money signings that didn't pan out. De Vrij from Inter cost £68 million, Maddison cost £71 million and Aké for £50 headline his transfers. In 2021 he finally gets rid of Özil and sells him to CSKA for £14 million.

Life after Arsenal isn't pretty. Spends two years out of the game and then returns with Liverpool. Liverpool under 18s as ASSISTANT manager. He spends about 14 months there before he's off on his new adventure. With drum roll, Sparta Rotterdam. He manages a measly 11 months there and is sacked after being knocked out in the first round of the Dutch Cup. He then spends a further 3 years out of the game before going back to City. Yes you guessed it, he's back as under 18s assistant manager. I think it's fair to say Arteta has found his niche. He lasts another year, but decides he wants another crack at Dutch football. Willem II come knocking and Mikel is absolutely willing to get going. No glamour here. No big money signings. They finish 16th and survive via the promotion play off and he keeps them up. He's sacked next season in December and it's bye bye for Mikel. Back to what Mikel knows best.... being an under 18s assistant. Another 3 years out of the game before joining Leeds where he lasts two years and since 2036 he's been back at Liverpool as assistant under 18s of course. Mikel Arteta is happy and content with life.

    Frank Lampard, Chelsea. Premier League 2020, 3rd. 2021, 4th. 2022, 4th. 2023, 2nd. 2024, 4th Achievements: FA Cup 2023, League Cup 2024. Champions League runners up 2023 and 2024.

Made some big money signings in his time with Chelsea. The likes of Coman for 77 million. Theo Hernandez, 54. Lautaro Martinez, 96. Oxlade Chamberlain, 52. Haaland, 83. Lots of big money moves and with lots of outgoing players being sold for peanuts. Drinkwater the pick of the bunch for 2.3 million. All in all, looks like a decent spell at Chelsea for Lampard. Not a whole lot won and obviously finishing as runners up in the CL and a 4th place in the Prem was the final straw before being sacked. Unacceptable (apparently). His career following Chelsea stretches all across Europe

Schalke 26-28, Winners Europa Legaue 2028. Real Madrid 28-31, 2029 League champions, 2 x Spanish cup, 2 x Spanish super cup. Inter Milan 31-34, 2032 Champions League, 2 x Serie A, Italian Cup, Super Cup, 2 x Italian Super Cup. Barcelona 34-37, Spanish Cup 2035. Dortmund 37-46. Absolutely nothing. NOTHING! Benfica 46- Present, Portuguese Super Cup, Portuguese Cup.

The one thing that sticks out is the lack of loyalty and respect for former employers. What kind of shit human being do you have to be to be a manager that can take roles at Barcelona and Real. And on top of that Schalke and Dortmund. Scandalous behaviour. Had an absolute stinker at Barcelona only managing to win the Spanish cup in 2035 and for some reason was Dortmund manager for 9 years despite not winning a single thing. The worst he didn't even get sacked from Barca but jumped ship to go to Dortmund. In fact it's not the first time he's jumped ship, same thing happened at Madrid and Inter. If there were any questions about Frank and his loyalty they have most definitely been answered. Besides Inter Milan his career has been poor to say the least. Perennial underachiever at the management game.

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool. Achievements: Premier League Champions 2021, 2022, 2027. Champions League winners: 2021, 2022, 2024. FA Cup, 2024.

Klopp lasted until 2029 with Liverpool. Adding 3 more Champions League medals and 3 more Prem medals to his collection. Not a crazy ridiculous haul for the German but still pretty darn impressive. After Liverpool he had a short break out of the game for 15 months before taking over Portugal in 2030. He spent 4 years in his role with his side winning the European Championship in 2032. In 2034 he stepped away from the game and retired at 67 years old.

    Pep Guardiola, Manchester City.

Well let's just say Pep did not last long at Manchester City, but not for bad reasons. He finally got his Champions League and added a couple more league titles alongside a Club World Championships and two more FA Cups. He was gone by 2021 and had a 14 month break (what is it with 14 month breaks in this game?) and a plethora of roles over the next number of years ensued.

    Good old Zebre, 22-24, 2 x Serie A, 2 x Italian Super Cup Spain, 24-26, Porto, 26-27, ........ erm? Chelsea, 27-29, Community Shield. HA. PSG, 30-33, ...HAHA. Liverpool, 34-38 ..........HAHAH Ajax, 38-42, 4 x Eredivisie, Dutch Cup, 2 x Dutch Super Cup.

Well just goes to show. Just because you're an amazing manager in real life it doesn't mean you will be in Football Manager. My personal favourite of tales of Guardiola is the fact that he didn't win a single Ligue 1 with PSG despite them almost winning the league nearly every other year. How the fuck did he stay in that job for three seasons?

Fitting that he finished his career at Ajax obviously in tribute to his mentor Cruyff. This game just brings a tear to your eye sometimes. He retires at 71 and goes out on a high. Probably the right decision considering life post City.

Julian Nagelsmann, RB Leipzig. Achievements: 2021 Bundesliga

Quick shout out to Nagelsmann one of the brightest upcoming managers in the last few years irl. He toppled the Bundesligs in 2021 with Leipzig and the rest is history. Bayern come calling and he's been there ever since.

    Bundesliga x 23 DFB Pokal x 8 German Super Cup x 17 Champions League x 3 Europa League x 1 Super Cup x 2 Club World Championship

Respect the loyalty from the manger and also from the board. gg wp Bayern/Nagelsmann.

    Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, Manchester United.

I would love to update you all on his career but no profile created post retirement. Let's all just assume it didn't work out. Sometimes this game is just so realistic.

Part 2 coming soon. Current players turned managers.

Fm being realistic again. City botteling the CL again when being up 3-0 in the home leg. I made a previous post about it (2nd pic). That was last year and this year they have done it again. To bloody Arsenal even with haaland in there team they cant win the UCL. #pepout?
