5 years at Barcelona; the journey so far

So since noone around me cares about FM and I really enjoy talking about the game, I thought that it would be fun to create a post every 5 years of my save.

So without further ado; my best XI so far. These are the players that have semented themselves into the history of my Barcelona. I must admit that I am a bit surpised by the CM and RB spots, in my opinion Frenkie and Arthur deserve to be there at CM and Roberto has been my go-to RB.

    Best XI in 2024

    The legends

Messi - Messi did not have the most luck in my save. He suffered from 2 heavy hip injuries and in total he missed almost a full season. He retired at Barcelona on his 35th, reaching 580 games for the clubS

uarez - Suarez was godlike in the first two seasons, contributing 62 goals in 62 games. Having won it all however he requested a new challenge and he is currently at Juventus at the age of 37

Pique - The leader of my defence for two seasons, Pique decided to retire at the age of 35 after he lost his captaincy to Ruben Dias

Dybala - He joined my Barcelona in the first season and since the he has played 143 games with a return of 71 goals and 50 assists. His average rating of 7.57 show great consistency and he is the attacking engine of my team

    The ones to watch

Fati (https://imgur.com/jgnSLOU) - He has won the golden boy 3 times in a row and he finished 3rd in the Ballon D'or at just the age of 21, an absolute star in the making! I have just rejected a 214M offer from City

Moriba - (https://imgur.com/Hixq24R) - He started off as a impact sub but he is doing amazing so far. He is the golden boy winner of 2023 and he just scored 17 goals in 21 games from the CM spot.

Munoz - (https://imgur.com/YlaFRRh) - My own academy wonder boy! He fits my tactic perfectly and he will be the core of the squad once Dybala retires. An average rating of 7.30 after 55 games looks very promising at the age of 19

Borges - (https://imgur.com/GhqBOPE) - Biggest. bargain. ever! He joined Barcelona for a fee of 150K and has produced 47 goals in 62 games so far. He's only 21 now and I really can't wait to see what the future will bring!

    The ones to forget

Griezmann - Only achieved an average rating of 6.95 in my save and was quickly pushed to the bench by Fati. He has been transfer listed for 3 years now but noone wants to buy him because of his salary. His loans to Fiorentina and Inter were nothing to brag about, so he is going to walk out for free at the start of this transfer period.

Couthinho - 21 games at the CAM spot and a return of 3 goals and 1 assist.. He was impossible to sell so he was loaned out to Porto and Wolves, after which he joined Real Sociedad for free

    Honorable servants

Firpo - Never the best in his spot, always happy to play behind Alba and Miranda. He plays about 15 games a season and never complains. A true servant to the club

Pedri - The super sub. He can play at LW, CAM & RW and he has done so with an average rating of 7.40. His consistency and versitality make him a great addition to the squad

Arthur - Super consistant but slowly falling behind Moriba and Florentino Luis. He has just requested me to loan him out but I want to keep him around

    What happened in the world

Enough about Barcelona.. what actually happened in the game world?

    Transfers

Gone are the days where 100M was a lot to spend for a player. The following transfers have blown the average spend to new heights. Its the usual suspects making the purchases

    https://preview.redd.it/uyf1rjr5d3u51.png?width=501&format=png&auto=webp&s=a3db49fade3ee60512e7aa53cfc77769b4852d5d

I've tried to spend not too much but sometimes I get tempted by the listed players.. I always try to even it out with sales and Spanish players/academy regens are preferred. In 2022 I had lost the La Liga twice vs Real Madrid (they got Salah & Silva for 300M) so I had to get some amazing looking regens to build towards a more succesfull future.

    My own tranfser activity

Golden boys & Ballon d'Or winners

    https://preview.redd.it/0exbivn8d3u51.png?width=914&format=png&auto=webp&s=d0c74a22c016d1b37938774d5ed61d73055d8e44

The highlight here is obviously Ansu Fati who won the golden boy 3x in a row and came third in the Ballon d'Or the year after. It seems that the LW spot in my team is filled for years to come. Super happy that Moriba took over the title and can't wait to see what the future brings him.

Dybala finally won the Ballon d'Or after an amazing season that netted him 19 goals and 11 assists in 29 games for an average rating of 7.90

    The competitions

    https://preview.redd.it/qbiyqvo1a3u51.png?width=897&format=png&auto=webp&s=81bc10bc956d04e0c61fb1e974fc74c3b7424669

I started off really good in my first season with a La Liga and CL win. However in the seasons after that age started to take its toll and I really struggled with consistency. El Classico would be won but games vs Getafe or Mallorca would be lost.

Suarez lost his touch and Griezmann never performed, so Gabriel Jesus was bought for 74M to fill the gap while Borges aged.

Now that Fati, Moriba, Todibo and Borges have grown I have really built a strong side which can hopefully get me back into champion league wins again.

Atletico has finished 10th and all of their players are angry so I might take over Saul or Correa if I can get them for cheap.

Liverpool is the most dominant force in the save, which isn't that weird after spending 1.234M in 5 seasons. PSG finally won the CL and it only cost them 1.330M while already having Mbappe & Neymar..! :)

Anyway, if you have come this far in reading; thank you! I am really enjoying this save.. my regens have big shoes to fill and Real is making sure that I am challenged.

See you in 5 years! :)

Help me Please. New to FM20

    Posted: 19 Oct 2020 11:04 PM PDT

    Hey Guys,

Im new to the game. Having played Fifa and PES and all that stuff, I obviously though this game would be easy or smthing similar to that. But boy oh boy has this game shocked me.

    So lets start:

    1st Save:

I started with MU. Finished 5th that season. Got knocked out of FA, Carabao and Europa. I was pretty happy with that season considering where we were. There were some good wins such as 1-0 against Tottenham and 2-1 against Bournemouth. But at the same time there were very heavy defeats. 3-0 against Liverpool, 3-0 against Arsenal, 3-0 against City, 5-0 against Leicester amd 2-0 against Brighton. At the end of the day I got the Sack and then I quit that save. There were some major flaws that season mainly in the signings. I brought in Tagliafico and Kimmich even though I didnt really need new left and right backs. So I started off again with a 2nd Save. Thoughout this save I used a 4-2-3-1 Counter Attack formation.

    2nd Save:

Again as United. Brought in Thiago Silva and Immobile to sort out defence and attack. Sure I got some good wins, like 5-1 vs Aston Villa. But still I am facing major defeats, 5-0 against Arsenal, 1-0 against Brighton, 1-0 against Newcastle, etc. I really have no idea what on Earth I am doing to lose such games. I still have arnd 32 games left in the PL in this season and I already want to quit it.

This is seriously getting to my head to an extent where I wanna quit this game and leave this subreddit. Im really clueless on how to play this game and any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in Advance.

How to win the club world cup

    Posted: 19 Oct 2020 08:16 PM PDT

Hi all, really struggling to win the club world as a premier League team in this year's version. The initial stages take place before pre-season. My players end up knackered and unable to recover between matches. Any suggestions of how to manage this issue? Is it a bug?
