My Biggest Fail on Football Manager

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 08:53 PM PDT

Hi guys. First time posting here but after what just happened to me I thought I'd share my experience.

So I'm 30 years into my current save and I'm currently Lyon manager. Things are going pretty well, although I did lose last season's Champions League final. However, one of my final aims with this save was to go back to Liverpool and retire there.

Sure enough the job opens up halfway through the season and I apply for it. I was asked during the interview whether I'd like to see out my current season with Lyon before joining. Since I was top of the league I thought it would be smart to stay and hopefully add another title win to my name.

This wasn't an issue with Liverpool and we agreed a deal for me to join 'at the end of the season' on May 29th 2049. This is where it gets interesting.

The season's going so well with Lyon that not only do I win the league, but I get to the Champions League final. It just so happens that the Champions League final is also on May 29th.

I wasn't too concerned with this as I thought I'd be able to manage the final before ultimately leaving for Liverpool. I was wrong.

The day of May 29th rolls around and without being given the choice I'm instantly Liverpool manager. The chance to make amends for last season's final defeat and win Lyon their first Champions League title is gone.

To make matters worse the caretaker manager at Lyon decides to change the tactic we've used all season for the final. He drops three of the usual starters and ultimately Lyon lose a very winnable final against Ajax 2-1.

I still can't believe any of this happened but it did and so I was wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else? Was there a way to avoid this, other than obviously not having agreed to join Liverpool in the first place?

Zoran Tosic - One last ride (Part 1)

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 06:11 AM PDT

Zoran Tosic, a big player for champions league side CSKA moscow a few years ago, bounced back from flopping in Manchester, but is now a free agent still waiting for that one final chance at glory in England, promotion hopeful Rochdale are here to take a chance.

Rochdale finished just outside of the playoffs last season, right wing is where they suffered with a long term injury to young Czech Polansky. Depth is needed. How much depth can an 82 years young Zoran Tosic give in the 2069/70 season?

Its pre season the lads are welcomed back, Tosic is assessed by the coaches and although he is looking a little slow, he looks clinical, he knows how to work together, and more importantly he looks hungry. Those are the stats that a 60 would die for!

Its all about fitness in the pre season he manages a short jog out for 7 minutes in the first 3-3 draw vs osnabruck

He was more involved in the next match, getting a strong 35 mins under his belt. Throwing some stellar crosses in that a more fit team would be heading home. He tops the game off with a penalty. First goal of the season off to a flying start.

For some clerical error this is only a 2 game preseason to much of surprise Tosic (and his manager)

So onto the first game of championship will Tosic become a first team regular? Will he get injured? Will he drop dead? Find out in the next instalment!

Tactical Discussion: how do you play against Gegen Press AI Teams like Liverpool?

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 07:29 PM PDT

How do you play against high press teams?

I turn off Play from the back and turn on pass into space, and turn up passing from shorter to standard/long.

Half the time I am pinged down in my own half and Liverpool's wingbacks TAA and Robertson just dominate my wings even though I have my wingers mark them - I play 442.

What league was the hardest for you to get through? I've got Boston Utd from Vanarama North and we are in league one at the moment: the difference between League Two and League One for me has been crazy.
