I turned Ross County into a team full of Ross' - Part 4 Posted: 26 Aug 2020 08:52 AM PDT Link to Part 1 / 2 / 3 Sorry about the wait, parts are becoming harder to write as I prepare to go back to work. The club is constantly losing money and even though we lie in 7th it's still a hard job we've got survive, even if we have turned a corner. We go to Hibs, have St. Mirren at Paisley, Celtic at home, Kilmarnock away, Livingston at ours, followed by Rangers and round the year off by going to Hearts at Tynecastle. 21 points up for grabs, but it proves to be the most challenging period we've had. We get hammered 4-0 off Hibs, putting us to the sword, however we then bounce back beating St. Mirren 1-2 away and what a game it was. Our 4-5-1 proves to do the job defensively, we lead through Ross 16 (Ross Callachan) before being struck back less than 5 minutes later, with time running out, Callachan picks up the ball again and rifles one in from 30 yards, we hold out and grab 3 crucial points to a relegation rival. ​ https://preview.redd.it/sno871g67dj51.jpg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=79097f43c75b0916f295d6f3526aa4c5e5c63117 We host the champions Celtic next, and we lose, predictably. However we only lose 0-1, it was an encouraging performance considering our opposition. After this, Killie away, one of the hardest fixtures on the calendar where we lose by the same scoreline in the dying minutes, 1-0, not the worst result I've seen. Then we play Livingston at home and play our worst game home game of the season so far, however, we somehow win 2-1 thanks to Ross 7 (Ross Matthews) and Ross 2 (Ross Millen). We have Rangers and Hearts up next, I'm not expecting much but we get destroyed, and I mean that. Rangers beat us 0-2 at home, not the worst result on paper but we were lucky to escape with 2 goals conceded, when it could've easily been 5 to the current league leaders. Our final game before the winter break sees us go to the tightest pitch in the league (at least it was..) and considering this might suit our narrow style of play, we pay the price for only having 6-7 Premiership quality players in our whole squad as Hearts win 4-1. Totally outclassed in the last 2 games, we drop down to 9th, deservedly. Now we have a small break before the Scottish Cup, I give the players a week off and organise reserve friendlies to get Ross Laidlaw, our NO.1 goalie and Ross Draper, our NO.1 midfielder back to fitness. We put out our strongest team against Queen of the South in the 4th round, and draw, we draw, 1-1, with us getting a last minute goal from Ross 10 (Ross Stewart). We were a disgrace, we were totally outclassed and have to go to a replay, the last thing we need with our squad constantly being stretched. We then go to Motherwell who are having a decent season, and lose 2-1. We then play Hamilton in a crucial match in the relegation battle, we go behind, and with time running out it doesn't look likely we'll get back into the game until an 80th minute own goal gets us level and we gain a point, 1-1. We needed something after taking nothing from our last 3 games, but then we suffer arguably our worst defeat, losing 1-0 to QoS in our 4th round replay, we got hammered, our negative style of football is starting to hurt us massively but we don't have much choice with player fitness constantly going down. Aberdeen then beat us 2-0 as we take a trip to Pittodrie, we've been hammered in our last 7 games now. I can't afford to bring in reinforcements, largely due to no-one being called Ross that could improve the team available with our budget.
