When I started playing FM I had heaps of normal saves: Fulham, West Ham, Inter Milan.

Then I had one of my all-time great saves at Leyton Orient in League One, and so it just didn't feel as good managing a big club anymore. Lower league management was where the real challenge was.

And then I had a save with Blackpool in FM18 where I stuck to signing Englishmen, a home-grown challenge. All of a sudden, signing foreign players just seemed wrong.

And then I went back to FM15 and had a save with Adelaide United that lasted 40 years, and not only were the players home-grown, they were all from my geographical area. I did it again with Celtic in FM19. I gave up transfer dealings for youth development.

Now, I don't even know where to begin with a big club. I've wanted to manage Toulouse, Brighton, Wolves but every time I just get bogged down. What do you mean I have to scout players? What do you mean I can sign a Brazilian wonderkid?

I find myself turning to a Guernsey FC save instead, playing with Islanders only, home-grown LLM just the way I like it. Not sure if this kind of FM addiction is a blessing or a curse.
