    A turbulent Career

After going into lockdown I began a save at Stockport and boy has it been a ride.

I joined Stockport with them having the a bottom 6 budget and a crap squad. Despite this a some cost cutting, I guided them in 4th in the national league, losing the playoff semi final on penalties. I'd been able to save £1.5M by keeping costs down over the first year, and so the next season I was able to loosen the purse strings and build a squad that stormed to the title with 103 points.

Life in league 2 began well, and despite not being in contention for promotion playoffs looked secure. But then I got tempted by a number of openings at championship clubs, and after a few interviews left to take over Blackpool.

Blackpool were 23rd and all but relegated, but I saw it as an opportunity to stabilise them and further boost my reputation. However, the end result was a disaster. Just 1 win from the opening 11 games led to my dismissal with Blackpool in 22nd, a cup run in the league cup being the only bright point.

2 months later I rocked up at Bromley, a side stuck in mid table with serious money issues. I was forced to cut an average squad in order to save money, and this saw results suffer. So when the board refused to give me any funds from a player sale I resigned.

After spending the remainder of the season applying for jobs I was finally offered the job at Northampton, who had just dropped out of league 2. It's a great chance for me to rebuild, and my failures are making for a great save overall!!

TLDR: Took Stockport into league 2, left for championship Blackpool, got sacked after relegation, and am now at Northampton after a brief spell at Bromley.

Beltran for £56m...I sold him to PSG for £78m.

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 03:28 PM PDT

I'm sitting here chuckling. Most recent scouting report came in with a guy I recognize (currently the Tottenham coach having moved up the ranks from Sunderland)...ole Fran Beltran himself...the guy I sold at the start of the season to PSG for £78m.

He was my sort of super sub midfielder...never made a regular first team impact, but was steady in a pinch and added much needed depth to my very successful 2023/24 campaign. At the start of 2024/25, rumors started that PSG wanted him for £60m-ish... they blew that away with a £78m bid. He demanded I entertain the offer. With literally no reluctance I accepted.

It's now February 2025 and my scouts have indicated Beltran is listed for transfer by PSG for £56m, having appeared 7 games all season. Granted, it might have something to do with the fact I just sold them Ruben Neves for £92m (paid £40m w/ my first transfer in 2022 at the club). He also wanted to go.

To be a turd, I was thinking of offering £25m for Beltran...or is that too much for a guy that will only play in the League Cup and against Leeds when Eriksen the Immortal needs a day off?

Also, what is with french clubs overpaying for players? AS Monaco paid £82m for Kean, who also rotated in as a sub. At least he is working out...24 appearances w/ 17 goals. ASM is 9 points up on PSG. Never that prolific for me.

Got to the final of the competition with Sunderland, obviously it's my first season, but first appearance at Wembley, surely I've got to wear a suit?
