Efe Ambrose - The (lib)hero we need

I wrote this post yesterday, on a player I've signed: Efe Ambrose. He's a central defender, with 3 Decisions, and PPMs like "Tries tricks" and "Tries to play out of trouble". You can check his stats in this image.

/u/lowerleagues suggested using him as a Libero, and update on the results. I had never used a tactic featuring a Libero, but gave it a go in a friendly and liked what I saw. The same thing happened when I tried him in an official match... could lowerleagues have been right when he mentioned we might stumble into an accidental genius?

    Efe joining Condeixa

I signed Efe last season, on an amateur contract - he was kind enough to move to Portugal to play in our lower leagues for free. I got him mainly because he's a Model Citizen, but I've used him as a backup central defender and right wingback. Until that post. Efe's day as backup are over. And so are his days of playing for free, since I'm now able to afford paying players and gave him a two years part-time contract, worth €240 per month.

    Tactic

This is the tactic I've started out with:

    https://preview.redd.it/u57auavy0wk41.png?width=624&format=png&auto=webp&s=9ccbc0d709dcb4249bfcc5d6634163c3f5f87392

I normally play a 4-4-2, but decided to drop one of the strikers. In the friendly, I had Miguel Luís as DLP, but I've noticed that Ambrose acts "anchor-rish" when playing as Libero, so I've moved him to a Roaming Playmaker. Playing with one striker had me worried, though.

    Condeixa 7 - Riachense 0

The first official match of the season was brilliant. We've completely obliterated one of the recently promoted teams. Ambrose didn't score, but he did show we could be on to something. He managed a 9.0 and got 6 key passes.

He tried 49 passes (second only to Miguel Luís, the playmaker, with 53), but only managed a 77% passing ratio, which was the worst on the team... but I get it. Efe's a risk taker. He knows that high risks are required for high rewards.

He was amazing in the defense, getting 8 interceptions (highest on the team) and a 90% success ratio on his 11 header attempts (also highest on the team).

This first official match can only be rated as a massive success.

    1º de Dezembro 0 - Condeixa 1

    Condeixa 2 - Alverca 1

The following two matches were colder affairs. Efe didn't stand out much (rating 6.9 and 7.6), but he kept leading the charts in interceptions and headers.

His passing was in the 40's (41 and 42), with ratio in the 70's (75% and 76%). It wasn't all that flashy, but the match against Alverca did show an improvement when I set the defense to push higher up: Efe got the assist for the winning goal, on the 89th minute! And he even managed to get 2 dribbles. Pushing higher up seems to suit Efe's style!

    Fátima 1 - Condeixa 5

I've pushed higher since the beginning, and it worked great. Efe was a lot more involved in the match this time around, increasing both his passing attempts (54, vs 56 from our playmaker) and his success ratio (83%). Not too shabby, Ebe, those are almost playmaker numbers!

He got a 7.8 rating, and led once again the charts in interceptions and headers - he was unbeatable in the air, winning all of his 9 heading attempts).

This game showed that Efe needs a defensive line that pushes higher up in the pitch. He worked brilliantly as an anchor, holding the defensive line and recycling possession when needed.

    Condeixa 4 - Oriental 0

Ah, our first cup game! Efe was amazing! He got a 9.0 rating, and he kept on improving his passing! He made 63 attempts, with a whooping 87% success ratio! He's still not on the same level as our playmaker (Miguel Luís got 88 attempts and a 93% success ratio), but our man can pass! And he can dribble too, as his two dribbles show! As usual, he was unbeatable in the defense!

    So, how's it going?

Over these first few games, one thing is clear: having Efe as Libero is brilliant for the defense. He's perfectly positioned for a lot of interceptions, specially when the opponents only field a single striker. He's also improving on his passing ever since I got him further up in the pitch, although I'm hoping to get him more involved in assists - and maybe even getting on the scoresheet!

This is my first time playing a Libero, but I'm enjoying the results so far. I'll probably update further down the line, perhaps with slightly less detail per match as it's a long season... but it seems this can be the start of Efe Ambrose's path to becoming a hero in Condeixa!

I just got fired by Empoli, how can I best destroy the club without cheating.

Title explains it all really, I was sacked by Empoli and want to bully the club for as ling as this save is still running by denying them promotion and eventually relegating them to Serie C hell.

    Give me tips

Does anyone have multiple managers in one save?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 01:23 PM PST

Playing FM19 and managing 4 teams. The sole purpose of my goal is to get enough Mexicans to Europe. In my previous save, I was managing Monterrey and bought every Mexican I could that showed 3 PA at least. After being with the club for 5 years and winning everything year in and year out, Liverpool contacted me. I managed to get all my certifications before this and was at the right time. Klopp got sacked and in 5 years, he managed to get them 1 league win and that's it, but always finished above 3rd except the last year where he finished 4th. I immediately took the job but still wanted to pump more Mexican players to Europe. Before I got the job, I had sold my best player for a total of $96 million plus add ons at the age of 19! That was another reason I took the job, I could snag the best players and keep them at a high level and develop them at a better rate and the mid players I could still sell to mid clubs.

While managing Liverpool for 3 years, I saw how many regens with 2.5/3 star PA kept passing me by because I kept buying 3.5/5 star PA player so I decided to make a 3rd manager to get these players, develop them and sell them for profit. So I decided to go to a club who was struggling but in a top league, here comes Lazio. At the time I took over Liverpool to the time I decided to add 3rd manager, 3 years plus the 5 years I was at Monterrey, Lazio was always between 8th and 4th place. They somehow still had their starting core you would initially start in the save but failed to win anything.

I came in with my 3rd manager, took over and got some loan players from Liverpool that were not good for first team but needed playing time. Bought a shit load of regens that were between 2.5/4 stars PA and immediately within two years had them win the Europa League and managed to get 3rd place. The next year they became champions of the league.

In comes the 4th manager of Monaco. The year is 2030, Monaco has failed to win anything. PSG are still on top of the league. The reason I decided to make this 4th manager was for the mere fact that I would buy players under 28 for free with their contracts expiring and loaned them to Monaco to increase their value. I managed to get this regen from Real Madrid and within one year his value went up to $60 million and guess who bought them the following year, Real Madrid.

In 2031, I have all 4 teams of Monterrey, Liverpool, Lazio and Monaco are all champions with a large transfer budget for all of them. I have crazy regens but my main task of exporting Mexican players to Europe hasn't done me good as we have yet to win a World Cup as we came second place in 2030 and got eliminated in semis in 2026. Yet, the save has been so fun developing all these regens from all over the world.

After trying to strategically rest my players with CL group seemingly the easiest I have yet to get, (no offense, but in my game, 2 teams are in CL for the first time) I find myself into a prime position for getting FM'd in a lovely manner, having promised 3 leaders of the team to win CL this year..
