Posted: 03 Jan 2020 10:32 AM PST Hey there /r/footballmanagergames, We're Forward Madison FC, a third-division American soccer club based in Madison, Wisconsin. We played our first season in 2019, meaning this year's edition of Football Manager is the first time we've been included in the game. Since some of us are long-time FM players, we thought it might be a good opportunity to have a little bit of fun with it, so we're issuing you a challenge: Take us to the top, and we'll reward you! If you play as Forward Madison and win the American first division, we'll mail you a personalized letter signed by our real-life manager, Daryl Shore. Although this challenge isn't possible to do in the main version of the game (as our league isn't playable and promotion doesn't exist), /u/Coltons13 has created a mod you should use that will let you take control of us and lead us to glory. Of course, we'd prefer you not use the in-game editor to cheat your way up the table, and although we can't stop you from doing it, we'd ask that you take a screenshot showing that the editor is off. And if you'd like us to make your letter more personalized, tell us about the best stories from your save! Finally, if you're up for the challenge, we'll give you a little bit of background information about our club. We formed Forward Madison FC in 2018, kicking off in the 10-team USL League One in 2019. Madison is the state capital and second-biggest city in Wisconsin, home to 250,000 people. Our name, "Forward" is Wisconsin's state motto, while the pink flamingo featured on our crest is a reference to one of the great (if irreverent) symbols of Madison. Our stadium, Breese Stevens Field, was built in 1926 as a baseball ground, but has changed along with the city, and hosted a league-best 4,292 fans per game last year. We ended up finishing fourth in League One in 2019, made it to the third round of the U.S. Open Cup, and hosted friendlies with Hertha Berlin, Minnesota United, and Leones Negros. We also have a Twitter account that you will hopefully find interesting. Feel free to ask us any more questions you'd like to. Until then, it's over to you! Good luck! [link] [comments]

when you resign, all the questions the media ask you assume you left because you were doing poorly Posted: 03 Jan 2020 07:04 PM PST i feel like this needs to be fixed. took bristol city from 23rd to 3rd after joining 6 games in after being told to avoid relegation. got an injury crisis and lost the playoff final, then the board gave me less than £1million to spend so i left. all the options i get are shit like 'i jumped before i was pushed' and stuff like that, when clearly that wasn't the case. Ever tried role-playing in FM? What's your most memorable role-playing experience? Posted: 03 Jan 2020 05:34 PM PST FM10 was my first manager game. And while I understood the basics of football, I could never tell you the difference between a fullback and a wingback. So instead of plugging in a tactic and playing, I decided to make it a more genuine experience. I started off at a small local team since realistically I'm a nobody so managing in the first division right off the bat is unrealistic. I grinded the game and learned as I went along, reading guides and watching videos to learn more about the game. I lost hundreds of games and was fired from dozens of jobs but eventually, I got ahold of it and started winning trophies. For me, playing the game that way made the achievements feel just abit more real for me. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Jan 2020 12:56 PM PST Hope it's okay to post this here! I posted a few weeks ago about this idea I had running through my head about sharing challenges and custom concepts for Football Manager on a site somewhere and it's finally reached a point where I'm happy to show it to people! It's taken a while to put together and get things working as they should but I'm happy with how it looks and am really enjoying posting new challenges and thinking up new ideas. There's currently 6 ideas on there and there will soon be more. Strangely, coming up and writing the ideas is the least time consuming thing about managing this website. Web design/construction is not my forte at all! I've tried to stick to the principles I laid out in that last post and have refrained from having loads of ads or unecessary menus etc like many people wanted. It's very simple and I like that. There's even an "Idea Generator" that randomly selects a team, formation and philosophy to get you started if you need a little step in the right direction. I'd love it if you could go give it a look and let me know any feedback you have if you get a few minutes. Just to know that things work as they should and people don't have a hard time using the site. If you fancy bookmarking it for future reference then that'd be great too! I try to post new challenges as often as I can and try to keep them as interesting and fresh as possible. I'd love to add some more ideas to the site if you have anything you'd like to share but have never gotten around to making too. I'm more than happy to put together databases and graphics for concepts if needed. I really want it to become the place to go to get some FM inspiration when you're a bit burnt out and have loved putting together the challenges on there so far. I'm always on the lookout for these interesting sort of databases and thematic concepts so if you know of any, send them my way. As always, I appreciate your time. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Jan 2020 03:00 AM PST This is a really sad day, the day I lost my greatest academy player I've ever had in any FM.Its the story of Leon Hankin, how ended up in my academy on the first youth intake day of my FM20 save. Some might say its a bit strange how a 16-year-old boy from Eastleigh ended up in Bavaria and 1860's academy, but I say it was divine intervention. He joined me as a blue-eyed naive boy that just loved the game of football and had 15 in passing, first touch, and technique.Leon made the journey with the club from 3. Liga all the way to becoming winning the Bundesliga three times in a row and growing into one of the best midfielders in the world. Leon was always a great leader in and around the club, performing both in training and on matchday. That great personality and leadership would leed hem to become club captain at the age of 20. And I couldn't be a prouder man. Leon grew to become a dominant midfielder and his passing ability was world renown and with that kind of renown, all the big boys of world football decided to ascend my little corner of the world. And that's when it began, Leon's longing to leave his home and becoming his own man, learning for himself instead of by the hand of his father. He stated he did not want a new contract and was happy with his release clause of £91 million. We would spend one last summer together, me and Leon before Madrid came for him, and he left his fathers house for that of the unknown. Goodbye my sweet prince [link] [comments]

Help with FM2020! (New player) I just can't stop losing Posted: 03 Jan 2020 09:32 PM PST I'm new to FM and only got the game a week ago. I started as Newcastle and did pretty decent in the first season as I finished 10th. The problem began at the end of first season where I finished the season with 5 consecutive losses. In the following season, I made couple of good signings that fit well into my tactic, but the bad form continued. After coming 20th with 1W/2D/13L in the second season, I got sacked. In my new club Bolton (I forgot about their financial crisis) the situation didn't get better. With 2W / 1D / 11L it looks like I'm on my way to relegation, and I'm planning to switch clubs at the end of season (If I'm not sacked yet). For tactic, I took recommendation from online (Knap 4231 tiki-taka & 4222 tiki-taka), and by the start of second season as Newcastle, I had quality players that suit role in every position. In Bolton, I'm just using 4231 tiki-taka and 442 wing play as I cannot sign anyone, and these formation fits the best for the players I have. Please help I love this game and it's realism(?) but I just can't continue playing like this. (I came from fifa after 7 long years) If you know any good FM youtuber for tutorials feel free to let me know as well. [link] [comments]

How does player ability growth works? (New to FM 2020) Posted: 03 Jan 2020 08:53 PM PST Hi guys, I recently just bought FM 2020 Touch for the iPad and really loving it so far. I'm currently managing Chelsea but after one season I haven't really noticed much of a growth in player ability in my young players. For example, Tomori and Abraham is still rated 3 stars despite getting loads of playing time the previous season. Is one season too short to be expecting any player improvements? [link] [comments] |
