My new website is now live!

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 02:36 PM PDT

Hello all! A month ago I put up a post about starting a website to cover my massive 225-nation save, among other things like tactics and experiments. Whilst I am hoping to populate it more over the coming days and weeks, I thought I would drop a link now that the site is live. If you have any suggestions, or would like to write about your own saves for it, please message me either on Facebook, or use the contact form on the site. Thanks again, and I hope that you enjoy what we're writing!

The list for managers who want to dissapear of the grid, or want to live as recluse...

    Posted: 07 Aug 2019 04:21 PM PDT

The pre/post-season of football is always dreary. with the summer holiday coming to an end, and FM20 still a good few months away. Here's time for a nice post-season shitpost...

So I have always been enamored with the idea of managing in really remote locales. Just places away from the rest of civilisation, and otherwise in places that are just utterly depressing and remote to live in, let alone manage a football club in because lord forbid roadtrips will be utter hell...

So here's a small list of clubs I have found which you can manage in FM19! These are present in the base game, either playable from the get go or with luck in a few seasons as they hopefully promote into a playable league...

Iceland: Who doesn't love Iceland, the land of volcanoes crippling international air travel, and needing an app on your phone to find out if that girl or guy you fancy is two genetic steps removed... There are multiple clubs that pass for utterly depressingly remote.

IBV (Íþróttabandalag Vestmannaeyja): No, I didn't make up that name. This one isn't super remote, it's 'only' a roadtrip of 150km to Reykjavik where most Icelandic teams are located. But this is a club located on the secluded island of Vestmannaeyjar. And the club is famous for... well, not much. But they won the league three times in the past, and David Moyes came through the youth (not kidding, look it up!)

KA Akureyri and Þór Akureyri: In the frigid north of Iceland, in the fifth biggest town of the country called Akureyri, there's the club KA Akureyri. They start in the highest league, and the other club is... Þór Akureyri (Totally not Copy/pasted that...) who are in the second league. Both playable, both 400km away from the capital Reykjavik, forcing the club to drive across the entire north/west coast of the country to get to the capital to play most of their opponents... FUN!

Honourable Mentions: Too many to note, Iceland is pretty goddamn isolated when you move away from Reykjavik.

Russia: да comrade, the biggest country in the world is known for its vast emptiness, ruining invading armies, and lots of vodka... And in the lovely nation of Russia, there's a few teams that fit the bill for being pretty damn secluded.

FC Baltika Kalinigrad: Sure, Kalinigrad isn't exactly remote on a global scale. But it definitely counts on a domestic level, sitting in the exclave of Kalinigrad sitting between Poland and Lithuania. Meaning every domestic away game forces you to cross borders to even get to the other city... They start in the second division, and that means they are playable from the start!

FC Luch Energiya Vladivostok: Located in the absolute far east of Russia, the travel costs must be sky bloody high and utterly dire. Away derbies will be hell, any team will HATE to travel to play in the far east port hub of Vladivostok that is close to the Sino-Russian border.

For pure travel nightmare fuel, a trip between Kalinigrad and Vladivostok is 10400KM or 6500 miles! Utter utter madness!

Honourable mentions: Again, too many to note. SKA Khaborovsk also in the far east. Tom Tomsk/Sibir in Siberia... And finally if Vladivostok isn't far east enough, FC Sakhalin is in the unplayable third division, but they sometimes slip into the second division.

England: Yes, England has a few notable mentions too! Although they're very tame compared to the other ones, but they might be the most viable for Champions League runs.

Barrow: Yes, Carlisle is technically more north than Barrow-in-furness. But if you want to get to a depressing place at the end of a road nobody cares for, Barrow AFC is the place to be if you want to turn a dreary little craphole into the next Champions League challenging powerhouse! They start in the National League, so it's not even the highest climb!

Truro City: Cornwall, it seems nobody cares for football in the heart of the Cornish lands. Except for Truro City there's no other notable club in the region. They start in the National League south, so no need to wait to make Cornwall the heart of English football!

Honourable Mention: Guernsey FC, on the channel island of Guernsey, closer to those smelly French than the British. The heart of dodgy banking too. Founded by Southampton FC legend Matt le Tissier. It starts outside the playable leagues, so you'll have to be patient, or use a little bit editor magic to build your little island paradise away from the British mainland!

Other nations: Oh, you thought I was done. Not even getting started, but here are some other ones that might tickle your fancy in having road trips from hell as you manage in the middle of nowhere...

CD Santa Clara: Portuguese club in the top league. On the super remote island chain of the Azores, the most western point of Europe. They have a tidy 13K all-seater, so it will take the least amount of suffering to make a quick leap to success. And insane European traveling!

Tromso FC Alta IF: Tromso is for wimps that like warm weather, Alta IF is even more secluded than the insanely north lying Tromso. Alta is possibly the most northern professional football club in the world. Only creating your own club on Svalbard would make it more northern, so this is the prime place to freeze your butt off!

Xolos Tijuana: Again, not technically remote. But for Mexican football it counts, straddling the American-Mexican border next to San Diego, it's far removed from other Mexican clubs which are much more centrally located. Perfect place for a warm weather siesta!

Rio Branco (AC): One of the most secluded football clubs in the world. Rio Branco lies in Acre, Acre lies in the far west of Brazil in the Amazon. It even has 320K people living there, enjoy life in a place where the average temperature never gets lower than a very damp 30 degrees celsius!

Anyways, here are a few suggestions out of probably many many more. Got other ideas, suggestions for the list for people to try out? Feel free to add suggestions to the list, and motivate people to take a stab at bringing a Champions League title to the middle of nowhere!

For me, its gotta be when i signed the dude that came from my hometown just to stick him in my U19 team (he couldn't play because he was too old) and let him rot because he was semi-rude irl to my aunt on a train. Completely derailed his whole career for a mere 500 euro a week.
