Regen to regular - How I made myself the next Cristiano Ronaldo in FM2019 (Long) Posted: 01 Jun 2019 05:22 PM PDT We've all done it. Edited ourselves into games of fifa or football manager. Made ourselves the superstar. Lived out our dreams of champions league glory. So that's exactly what I'm doing. One man. One burning passion for football. One chance at history. First off, a little background; I was born and raised in a little country called Israel, I spent my early years in a region torn apart by religious, nationalist and sectarian conflict, where hatred and violence were the norm and conservative tradition dominated day to day life. Like for I expect every other boy growing up in the world, football was my escape. Whether I was playing it or watching it football was the reason my young life had purpose, it was what I lived for. I watched every game I could, I cheered and cried my way through several seasons with a number of teams both in Israel and around Europe, from Maccabi Tel-Aviv, to Liverpool, to Ajax. But like anyone, I dreamed of being the one to score that winning goal, in the 92nd minute, of the world cup final, in front of millions. Unfortunately. I just wasn't very good at football. I tried, I gave it my best, but my once lofty and ambitious career fizzled out right around the time I missed a penalty and got myself sent off for throwing a temper tantrum in my local U15's teams first game of the season and saw myself relegated to the bench for pretty much the remainder of the year. But that changes now! What if... What if I wasn't so shit? What if I was a superstar? What if I was the next Cristiano Ronaldo, or Lionel Messi? Let's find out. The rules are simple:
So without further ado, let's get into it. Here's ya boi: The stats are more than a little generous, I agree... I couldn't settle on a club to sign for, it didn't seem fair to throw myself in at the highest level and instantly replace my idols, so I decided to start unsigned to anyone, ready to propel the first club to sign me to newfound glory and stake my name as the greatest player in history. So who would sign me? Which club would have the foresight to snap up this brilliant middle eastern wonderkid? Would I sell out immediately and sign for PSG? Would it be Barca, would it be Juve? Plenty of clubs were interested, but in the end no.....no it would not. Welcome, to Maccabi Tel-Aviv. Admittedly, I'm pretty pleased with this, the club I supported growing up, Israeli premier league champions 22 times, the only club never to be relegated from the top division and one of only three Israeli teams ever to feature in the champions league. (Side note: Israel and Israeli domestic teams play in European competitions because middle eastern nations don't wish to play them. Thus Israel qualifies for the world cup through the European bracket, has teams qualify for the champions league and for all intents and purposes is a part of UEFA) The one down side to all of this? They've only put me in the youth team. It's under 19's football for me this season, let's see if I can break through into the first team. A couple of key games in my first season, a debut goal, my first hat-trick and a cup final: Obviously, in this kind of form, international football was beckoning: Well that went well. Never fear, my next few games were better: So here we are, at the end of my first season, languishing in the lows of Israeli youth football, but I think you'll agree, putting in some numbers, 47 appearances at both club and international level (albeit u19 and u21 level respectively) and an astonishing (it's almost like I gave myself insane stats) 63 goals, 16 assists and 38!! man of the match awards. It might not be the champions league, but I've had my first taste of silverware this season with the Israeli youth cup honoring Avi Ran and I'm ready, for the big teams of Europe to take note, of this emerging wonderkid. Will any of them bid for me in the summer? Will I even see my senior team debut? Will Israel ever win the world cup? (Spoiler:No) I guess we'll have to wait and see. Let me know if you guys enjoyed this, if it proves remotely popular I'll keep going with it, the issue is I've included every league possible to give myself the broadest chance of finding a club at the start of the game, so simulating it takes a while and for those of you wondering why no facepacks, badges or shirts? No I'm not ruining my internet tryna download all of that. Maybe they'll come later once I've signed for someone notable. If you have any questions, anything you want to see in game, even if you just want to share your own story, let me know down below. Edit: Just for those of you wondering, here is the leagues in focus for the end of this season, at least the first team did okay without me. And the available jobs: Should I just take over at Barcelona or Borussia Dortmund and kickstart my career? [link] [comments] | ||
