- One of my friends is in FM!!
- Don't listen to him
- "Last time I promise..."
- When the third choice goalkeeper demands more game time
- Definition of Yo-yo Club: Brentford FC
- Didn't need that laptop or window anyway
- Transfer budget well spent
- This was the greatest Champions League Groups phase I have ever had! I lost first 3 games, to these giants. I won the other 3 games (with a goal that came during stoppage time in the game against Dortmund). Somehow someway I qualified as the leader of this group of death. I am proud of my lads!!!
- Never seen this before
- Biggest game of my season and the opposition do this
- My front four is a bunch of amateurs
- Possibly the tightest title race I've been involved in
- Ever since Champ Manager 2, I have never won from 4-0 down.
- My great run to start my Sparta Prague save just came to an end
- I really did.
- Wanted to share my no save-scum Belorussian miracle. I will now be accepting job offers.
- I just had a really ridiculous Quarter Final in the Champions League and I need to vent
- Feels weird to be counting down the days until this kid turns 16
- Don't switch to Defending I said. It'll be fine I said.
- Played 3rd followed by 18th a week later. Same team, same tactic. This is FM in its purest form.
- Name a more dynamic duo than Albrighton and Brighton
- Think I saw someone post something similar the other day but found this on my save and thought it was gold.
- Nicolas Pepe was named African Footballer of the Year as well as the second best African midfielder of th eyear...

I just had a really ridiculous Quarter Final in the Champions League and I need to vent Posted: 27 May 2019 05:04 AM PDT Right, so I'll start with some background. I'm managing Ilirija and it's the 2038/39 season. We've won the Europa League before, but we've never been beyond the quarter finals in the Champions League. This season, we drew Atletico (La Liga and Champions League holders), Napoli (who still have some world class players, probably a better team than us) and RB Salzburg. We smashed Napoli 6-1 away and drew 1-1 at home, we dismantled Atletico 3-0 at home and lost 2-1 away, and we beat RB Salzburg 4-1 in both games. This meant that we came second in the group, but we had a better record against each of the other teams individually. We drew Liverpool, the defending Premier League Champions and winners of the Champions League three seasons prior, in the Second Round. We destroyed them 4-1 at home and saw out a 0-0 at their ground to win the tie. Spain and England are also the only countries I have loaded other than Slovenia and South Africa; going into the quarter finals, we'd beaten the defending Champions of the two best leagues in the world and the Champions League itself. I really thought this year was our year, especially when we drew Sevilla in the quarter finals, probably the second weakest team left after Porto. Sevilla were of a similar calibre to Napoli, perhaps even a bit worse; still stronger than us, but not on the level of Liverpool or Atletico. So what happened? This happened. With about 20 minutes to go, they needed three goals (yes, it's realistic), and they ended up getting five. Now, you might have noticed my keeper's 4.6 rating. Let's take a look at their goals, shall we? Firstly, their goal to make it 2-1 on the night: Delarice comes out to claim it but ends up nowhere near the ball. Ah, but it gets worse! That was followed up by their second goal, for which Delarice kindly threw the ball to their player, who was able to get an easy assist to even up the tie. But it gets even worse! And we can't just blame Delarice. You see, their third goal, the one they needed to put them ahead on aggregate, and the one that forced us to push men forward, allowing their fourth and fifth goals, was the fault of another player. Under no pressure whatsoever, Mahmoud PASSED THE BALL STRAIGHT TO THEIR STRIKER TO TAP IN FROM A YARD OUT???? So that was the game. But there were two legs in total: "what happened in the first leg?" I hear you wondering. Well, let's start by having a look at the line-up we went with in that leg, or more specifically, the defence. At Left Back we have Jiri Siman: a good player, but also 18, and very much a backup. My first choice, Ancor, was injured. But that's not so bad of a replacement. Let's move along the line to the Left Centre Back, Vilakazi (who also played half the game slightly injured). You might notice a couple of things about him: A. He's not a Centre Back. B. He's fucking shit. Well done, you're very perceptive. You see, in this tie, Robbie Martinez, Araszkiewicz and Minervino were all injured or suspended, all of whom are pretty much my first choice Centre Backs. Vilakazi is a player who I brought in because he was listed for £21k, so I knew I could make a profit, but we had to play him out of position at Centre Back because of all the injuries and suspensions. Then let's move along to the Right Centre Back, Bertacchini. Like Siman, he's a very good player, but he would not start in my strongest team. Nevertheless, I wasn't too upset to have to start him. Let's move on to the Right Back, Damjanovic. He's a backup Centre Mid, and, as you might notice, has no fucking clue whatsoever how to play Right Back, having never played there before in his career. He's fast and has decent tackling, but his jumping reach is shite, so I put him at Right Back in the hope that he'd do a job, as Puljic, my first choice Right Back, was injured, as was Minervino, my backup, and the third-choice, Vilakazi, was playing Centre Back due to his superior jumping reach. So in this leg, we had a completely makeshift defence; nevertheless, we didn't concede from open play. As you may have realised from the aggregate score you saw in the Second Leg, the First Leg ended 1-1. So how did they score? A penalty. But that happens, I guess. It's not like players are going to miss penalties at this stage. Oh wait. By the way, that same player ended up scoring a penalty in the following league game. This was a stupid, stupid tie, and I have no clue how we are not in the Semi-Final. [link] [comments] | ||
