Is it too risky to completely gut and rebuild a squad in one transfer window?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 02:06 PM PDT

I've recently taken over AC Milan in the 34/35 season. They were 16th in the league with 10 games left and have a balance of -£150m with a net debt of around the same. The squad is dire apart from a few players worth upwards of £50m but there are a few wonderkids ready to come into the first team. The board expectation is to reach the top half of the table - something I reckon I can easily do with a weaker squad than I currently have.

My thought is that I could sell off pretty much all of the squad members worth anything for a fortune and go a long way to sorting the club finances, while bringing in a lot of decent squad players for very little money and a few higher profile players or younger promising players. Along with the youngsters currently at the club, I reckon this is more than enough to over-achieve based on the board's low expectation.

Am I being naive, or is this a viable vision for the forthcoming transfer window? I am worried that a massive overhaul in such a short time may leave us worse off, especially due to the lower chemistry between players.

    Listening to Advice

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 09:51 PM PDT

My assistant coach gives advice, and sometimes I agree, and sometimes I don't. I trounced Liverpool 4-0, and then lost to Spurs 5-1. I went against my assistant both times playing as Arsenal.

How much weight should I give to listening to him?

    Final Day Drama

    Posted: 03 Apr 2019 07:50 PM PDT

Tonight was one of those nights that makes this game so great.

Heading into the final game of the League One season, my team sat third in the table. We were 1 points behind third and playing at home against a Sunderland team fighting for the play offs. But to our advantage second place was on the road against first.

Thanks to goal difference, if 2nd lost all we needed was a point to secure a surprise promotion to the Championship (3 straight promotions).

My boys came out flying and by half time we were all but promoted. We were up 3-0 and 2nd was down 3-0 and down to ten men. Sunderland did get cause some nerves getting a goal back but, on what should be his final game for the club, icon Roy Howles came on and scored a 4th to calm the nerves.

Job done! Promotion achieved. And Roy may have earned himself a new contract (as long as he takes a pay cut). Championship should be fun with a team that really should be in League Two.
