Please use this thread as a place to ask questions that are specific to your save, such as:

    • "Why is my tactic not working?"

    • "What role should I play this player in?"

    • "I have £xxm to spend, who should I buy?"

If you are asking for tactical help/advice, please post an image of your formation and what insutructions/roles you have set.

As a rule of thumb, if you ask a question, answer a question. This is what keeps this thread alive and useful.

Also, please remember that the team suggestion thread can be found in the sidebar, so please use that and give your suggestions to people there too!

New to football manager and having a blast!

    Posted: 16 Mar 2022 02:55 PM PDT

So I just recently started playing, I love management type of games and sports in general so this is right up my ally. I don't know a ton about soccer/football but have learned a decent amount in the last few years as I've gotten into the sport much more.

The interesting part is my first season so far, which I expected to go terribly as I started off unemployed and without any experience; I'm aware most people suggest starting with a good team in a bad league but I like to make things difficult for myself I guess.

I got hired by Curzon Ashton, lost my first regular season game and one of what I assumed was going to be a solid player in Adam Thomas to a broken leg for 4-6 months. I ended up signing a center back in Mohammed Diaby and moved to a 5-3-2 instead of a 4-4-2 and with 5 games left in the season Thomas is about to be back and no other significant injuries had occurred in the season, but we were in 4th with York already clinching the title and Boston Utd a playoff spot, spots 3-11 only separated by 9 points.

I have one game left before playoffs begin and have been thinking about them all day at work as I clinched a playoff spot last night, on a 82 min goal by Thomas in his 2nd game back. This last game before playoffs does matter for seating, and have to play with my set pieces as I have the least set piece goals in the league this season.

Curzon Ashton have sent me on 2 coaching courses, and with how well this season has gone I accepted an extension to stay another season to either hopefully keep pushing up or actually move up as I don't know if we have what it'll take the first year to actually move up. I'm hoping for an increased wage budget for the next season also to add one or two more players and still need to find a decent loan or two to put me to the next level.

But I'm excited to see what the future holds, I haven't been this obsessed with a game in a long time, I think my management career is just truly beginning.

Won the Champions League with my local 9th tier side with a player I signed in League 2 scoring the winning penalty in the final, truly the stuff of legend, will never enjoy an fm save this much again and truly will never love a virtual player as much as I love that man Casey Warrington

Got a golden youth intake with 10 five-star talents and two four-star talents, this is where they are seven seasons later.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2022 02:02 PM PDT

A week ago I posted the best youth intake I've ever had, here in case you missed it. The 2023 class I got with Derby in the Championship had ten (!) players with 5-star rated potential, two with 4-star rating and two with a 3-star rating.

For context Derby finished 5th in the Championship that year and narrowly missed promotion to the PL, losing the final to Norwich 1-2. Seven seasons later (28/29) Derby is an established top-half team, winner of three European trophies (Conference, Europa League and Supercup) and playing CL this seasons.

But that's not why you're here. You want to know how that 2023 generation went on. Did they really become a golden generation, meh or total flop? It's a mixed bag. Here's a fast recap on how they're doing, ranked from best to worst.

TLDR: there are three premier league level talents, nine players who'll probably become Championship level players and two total flops.

    My every country challenge

    Posted: 16 Mar 2022 08:29 AM PDT

    Hey everyone,

SO a few years ago I posted or talked about a challenge on FM where I got a player from every country to play at least 5 games for My team. As time has gone on I have created an excel spreadsheet with all their stats and have a word document written up with all other stories. Would anyone be interested in seeing this or has the interest gone away? Let me know if you wanna see it also has anyone tried doing this or a challenge similar to it.

After playing this game for 3 years I finally won a champions league

This might be one of the best days of my life. I started playing this game and got addicted playing a Annan Athletic save (fourth tier Scotland). Then I had my Rostock save (Germany), A Pro Patria save (Italy) and many other semi succesful saves where I could only win the league I was in. I love the way this game handles the rags to riches story. For this save I started as a journeyman and ended up at Red Star. This game taught me love, this game taught me hate. Now there's some emptiness feeling until I do it all again. Also do you guys continue saves after winning the champions league?
