Zealand’s NewGAN (regen) Facepack v2.2 - Real faces for every regen in your game.

    Posted: 28 Jul 2021 02:33 AM PDT

So, on this thread the discussion in the comments quickly developed into people finding out for the first time about this quite game-changing mod for real regen faces in FM.

It ultimately deserves a thread of its own, as every passionate FM fanatic should know about this. I suppose this could be pinned in one of the sidebars if the mods felt it was appropriate. In my opinion, this is the greatest mod the game has ever had, and Zealand et al deserve enormous credit for the program they've created. First and foremost, I'd like to give a massive thank you to them. I have had no role in developing this mod, I'm merely sharing it with the subreddit. If you have any technical queries, I'm sure we can all try to help each other but you're best visiting the below links and the video attached is a lifesaver for installing.

Use this video walkthrough guide here

EDIT: Or use this text guide here which /u/fkitbaylife kindly provided and found easier to follow

The program works with FM20 and other versions too going by feedback from users in this thread (please read the comments for further detail). I have experienced no issues whatsoever in terms of the game lagging or slowing down. The process you carry out every annual regen date takes a few minutes max. You'll forget you've even done it, and it's impact on your game will far outweigh any 'hassle' in taking the time to do so.

It's quite incredible really. There's even clear facial differences within smaller regions like Eastern Europe, given the many different ethnic groups in that area. There's also clear differentiation between different areas of Africa or Latin America etc. and on any other continent.

To make this clearer, previous iterations of the program weren't quite right. For example, you'd end up with pale white, ginger, freckled Congolese nationals with straight red hair. This tore you away from the realism factor and was quite frankly annoying. However, this updated version generates player faces according to location and the specific details of the regen that you see on the 3D match engine. As /u/Rossums kindly explains, all players have this information stored in the database which includes ethnicity, hair colour and skin tone. The program matches the faces to the database entries, generating a random face based on those attributes. If your player is Korean with black hair, he'll have a Korean face with black hair generated.

The faces aren't real people either - they're completely AI generated based off of over 100,000 original faces that it continually uses to randomly generate, correct and improve. Any duplicates are extremely rare given the enormous amount of faces on the game to the point that the odds of this happening are negligible.

I could not rate and recommend this program any higher.

There's nothing more satisfying than getting rid of the 3D generated faces from the new regens of the year. It applies them all across the world too - not just to your team.

Giving credit where it's due: I'd recommend giving Zealand's YouTube channel a subscribe, as the guy lives and breathes FM. His videos are funny, creative, easy-watching and extremely informative. I've been playing this game for nearly 20 years and still find myself learning new things from his content. When he posted a workable version of this mod, my jaw dropped. I must stress again: this has changed the game forever for me.

The community has been waiting for something like this for a long, long time and it seemed too good to be true. Well, it is true. Give it a go and I promise that you won't regret it.

    Enjoy.

I’ve drawn up redevelopment plans for the new stadium & lost my mind in the process

I've drawn up redevelopment plans for the new stadium & lost my mind in the process

After years of managing my addiction to FM. I've become one of those people who's taken it all a bit far, suddenly I'm maniacally spending hours drawing up plans for fictional stadiums that I'll never see.

To start at the beginning, in my current career, I've been with Cardiff City for 11 years, we've won the Premier league Three times along with a hattrick of Champions leagues.

    Club Overview.

Despite bringing unparalleled success to South Wales, the club was sold early in my tenure to a Welsh consortium, despite the positive of taking the club out of Vincent Tan's hands, unfortunately, they didn't have the funds to bankroll a never-ending spending spree, on top of this, we've been hampered by our small stadium in comparison to the continental competition we're facing.

So, after all of this, having spent years arguing for improvements to the ground and being stonewalled. Four years ago the board finally caved as they, much to my surprise, approved a brand new 55,000 seater stadium. Now after three painstaking years of searching and planning the stadium is finally set to complete.

The Cardiff City Stadium as it stands today and in 2031.

Recently, this has got me thinking, where would a brand new, big, fuck off stadium even fit in Cardiff? I mean, it's already quite Stadium heavy for a city of its size.

After a couple of (quiet) weeks, this question kept banging around in my head. So, eventually, I decided to draw up my own plans for redevelopment. I set out with the hopeful task of finding somewhere that this new behemoth, would fit within the city.

After much deliberation, and having played with the idea of destroying the Pontcanna fields and leveling the international sports village. I finally decided the only site suitable would be a full redevelopment of the Queen Alexandra dock.

Potential sites and the chosen Queen Alexandra dock.

Presuming heavy trade and industry have continued their steady decline in Wales over the intervening years. Cardiff will likely be looking to reduce the size of its port yet again, and engage in another round of post-industrial Britain's favorite game, redeveloping disused dockland.

With that in mind, here are the plans, for the new 'Ninan Port Development.'

The scheme would include: - (Reference numbers marked in the image below)

1 - The waterfront 55,000 capacity Ninian Port Stadium.

2 - A National Museum of Trade Unionism, inside of which is a 3,000 capacity conference center.

3 - Expansive new club museum, shop, and a boutique hotel that sleeps 150.

4 - An 175ft skyscraper with high-end luxury apartments, called: Bluebird Tower.

    5 - 62 new acres of parks & beachfront.

    6 - 1000 affordable, high-density apartments, a primary school, and a library.

7 - 6500ft of new food and retail space.

8 - A full restructuring plan to save the remaining docklands.

    The Ninian Port Development's layout.

I guess something on this scale would cost around 2/3 billion pounds. Seeing as the club has posted profits of over 400 million for the last four consecutive seasons, I figure the club's cash reserves along with our owner's wealth, and a certain amount of public and private investment would be enough to complete the entire redevelopment.

Any other Cardiff fans, how do you feel about us moving to the South East of the city? Or alternatively, if anyone else knows a therapist who's able to help me with this affliction, don't hesitate to, get in touch.

Have you ever gotten an offer to manage a better team whilst not doing a good job managing your current team?

    Posted: 28 Jul 2021 10:30 AM PDT

So I started a save with Sunderland recently. In all my years playing FM, I had never tried to manage a third tier team. I figured it would be fun to try a new challenge and get them back to the prem eventually.

First season went great. I won league one by a comfortable margin, securing automatic promotion with a month or two left in the season.

Second season was another story entirely. I've never managed a newly promoted side, and it was brutal. I signed players I thought would be championship level and they all flopped. None of my previously killer tactics worked. Morale plummeted and we were in the relegation zone in January. I was living in fear of my finances (which I had managed assuming we'd at least stay in the championship) going to complete shit.

Then, out of the blue, Southampton approached me about interviewing for their managerial job. I honestly assumed it was a glitch. My Sunderland were in second to last in the championship and didn't look like changing that lol.

So, I took a look at the Southampton team. They were last in the prem on on 19 or so points (in January), but it was clear they were severely underachieving. The previous season they were 7th in the prem. The squad was good and even included Declan Rice, signed from relegated West Ham. The finances were fantastic, with close to 100 million in the bank.

So, I took the job. I feel bad for giving up on Sunderland, but this was too good of an opportunity to pass up. Gonna be keeping an eye on Sunderland to see if anyone can salvage the dumpster fire I left behind.

So, I'm curious: has anything similar ever happened to you? Have you ever been struggling with one team and gotten an offer to manage a better team?
