    1860 Munich: Part 1

Hello and welcome to my first ever career update

We dont see many stories or career updates around here so I've decided to try and change this. I also have a fair amount of time on my hands to give constant updates along the way.

I will need some time to work out the format and how often its going to be updated and posted but the general idea is that I will do a Preseason, Midseason and Postseason update. I will try and let the pictures do most of the talking, I will add comments to guide.

The team I have chosen to try this with is 1860 Munich, I am not a fan or supporter of the club in real life but I have always had a soft spot for them, I especially like their colours and badge and the idea of taking on Bayern for City bragging rights does appeal to me.

This will be a full club rebuild, I will be trying to change the entire club from top to bottom and will act as Manager and Director of Football (The game does not allow that but we wont hire a DoF and I'll manage all his duties)

    Some Club History:

1860 Munich as a club is 160 years old, they were founded in May 1860 but roots to the club can be found even earlier and date back to 1848.

The modern day version of the club was actually a founding member of the Bundesliga in 1963 and in the 1965/66 season they won their first and only Bundeslegia title. This is where the club started to decline and after 10 years of top flight football, the club was relegated 1988 and stripped of their football licence due to severe financial problems.

Reborn again as an amateur club playing in the Bayernliga they managed to fight back and after 3 seasons of amatter football, the club was promoted to 2.Bundesliga in 1991. After a few more years and another relegation down to amateur football along the way, the club did eventually regain their status in the Bundesliga and in 1994 TCV 1860 Munich was once again at the pinnacle of German Football.

Fast forward and after another 10 years playing Bundesliga the club was again relegated down to 2.Bundesliga in the 2004/05 season and where they would stay for 13 years before again falling down to amateur league football in 2017/18. The reason the club went straight from 2.Bundesliga down to amateur football leagues and not the 3.Bundesliga is murky but it appears they could not afford the licence or the majority shareholder refused to pay it.

Thankfully it was a short stay down there and they were promoted again after a single season to 3.Bundesliga and have been there the last 2 seasons where they finished 12th and 8th.

    Club Ground:

The club plays at the Grunwalder Stadion and this was built in 1911. It currently holds around 15k fans.

Interestingly, they did share the Allianz Arena with Bayern for a short period. 1860 Munich previously co-owned the facility with Bayern Munich, but sold its 50% share on 28 April 2006 to help resolve a serious financial crisis that saw TSV facing bankruptcy. On 12 July 2017, Bayern Munich announced the termination of 1860 Munich's rental agreement for Allianz Arena. 1860 Munich will return to their previous residence at the Grunwalder Stadion for the 2017–2018 season.

1860 dont actually own the Grunwalder Stadion, they are renting it for 9% of gate receipts from the City of Munich.

    The FM Save:

    • Restore the club to the Bundesliga (Stating the obvious)
    • Finish above Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga at least once.
    • Rebuild the club from the bottom up, ensuring financial stability as a very top priority
    • Build our own stadium to call home

    The Immediate Plan:

    • Get out of 3.Bundesliga as fast and by any means possible to 2.Bundesliga. We need the funds and security of the higher division.
    • This will mean that we sign players outside of my long term vision (young players who can improve and be sold for profit) and will likely result in older nomad veterans assisting us on short term contracts to get us promoted.
    • Build a tactic style and identity for the club, the process will be slow and will take 3-5 years to install due to limitations of players available at our disposal.

Thanks for reading, all thoughts and comments are welcome. If you have any ideas on how to help me along the way, feel free to let me know and if the format is not working here then also please provide feedback.
