Year 2119 FM20 Save - What does the footballing world look like 100 years from now?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 02:05 PM PDT

Hi all, welcome to the first 100 year save of mine since FM 2017. The goal of this save was to load up a few key leagues and start simulating 100 years into the future to see how the footballing world has changed. Usually I leave the game pretty vanilla, but this year, I've thrown in a few changes to the database:

Finally, here is the download link to the save. And, just to be clear, I don't know how well this game would run. After all, it is a 1.5gb save now, so please back up often if you are going to start playing off here. The save is ready to go for you to drop in your manager, and play!

    Year 2119 FM20 Save

You can see my other threads that I've done for older games here:

    Year 2117 FM18 Save

    Year 2114 FM15 Save

    Year 2113 FM14 Save

    Year 2100 FM13 Save

So how does this save work? I create an unemployed manager who just starts going on vacation for 100 years and then we come back and check to see how the world has changed. I haven't peaked at anything yet, so I'm going through it all for the very first time with you guys.

Let's meet our brave time traveling manager. Time is but a construct to him. His age is stuck at 100 years old. He's the one and only:

    Dr. Stephen Strange, M.D. Ph.D

    Game Status

    Add/Remove Leagues

Yes, this took over 40 straight days of simulating. I was averaging around 2.5 years/day give or take.

So now that the house keeping is out of the way, let's get started.

    WORLD

    CONTINENTAL

    EUROPEAN

    NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICAN

    ASIAN AND OCEANIC

Phew, that was a ton of leagues to go through. I hit Imgur upload limits like four times making this.

So this was fun, but I must say. The results weren't as fun as they were the other times I've done this. In the past, we had teams like Brentford become perennial world champions and amazing rags to riches stories (thanks to some timely oil money…). The EPL honestly does not look too different from the EPL today, which is quite unfortunate. This year, we didn't seem to have anything too crazy outside of the Belgian league becoming the number one league in the world. I actually have no idea how that happened. No Belgian team has won the Champions League, and they only have like <5 Europa League and Europa Conference League wins, too. If anyone else has any idea, I'm all ears.

I have a feeling (just from my small sample size of experience here and a save currently in 2028) that the 2020 version of this game heavily favors the current big teams to stay big. You can tell this is probably the case since most of the 170+ PA players immediately get bought up by the top 30 or so clubs. Like a friend said, it's kind of like the big clubs all have their own FM Genie Scout or something. Kind of unfortunate, but ultimately probably more realistic. Either way, let me know what you think! It's still a fun little experiment. If you do play the save for a bit, let me know how it is! Have fun and thanks for reading through to the end!

Idk man, he looks a bit over 40 to me

Has to be the most decorated player/manager I have ever seen.

Last minute, 1:2 down against Schalke. Nübel just crushed my hopes.

Now that’s what you call an excellent season.

Imagine being bought by PSG and then loaned out to your former clubs' arch-rival for four years lmao

I just lost two consecutive champions league finals in a row. My son scored the equalising goal to bring it to penalties and finished the game as the 5th kicker against his old team...

This game provides so much feelings and intensity !!!

It's only my 2nd FM serie game, I began with a low-league club in France in FM19 and passed only 1 season before FM20 be released. Then I chose to manage Shakhtar and there are some great nights like this one, today. It's nothing compared to a lot of you's achievements but it's so damn good to me !!

THIS SHORTCUT WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE (CTRL+W)

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 05:21 PM PDT

It has come to my attention in this community and elsewhere that there is a very handy shortcut that many are unaware of.

To save yourself time when scouring the world's youth intakes, use CTRL+W from anywhere to go straight to the World Transfers screen.

Then all you need to do is go to youth intake in the dropdown list. This will save you hours of clicking the globe and transfers buttons every time you sim a day to find the latest newgens between March and April.

    Happy hunting 😇

20 matches without a loss and this happens (They're 18th in the league by the way)

After 9 seasons of yo-yoing between 3rd and 2nd divisions, I finally stayed up in the 2nd for the first time!

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 08:10 PM PDT

I'm so happy I didn't know who I could share it with. Hope the sub enjoys the tale below.

I got into FM19 last January and I've been playing a save off and on ever since. I started unemployed and eventually got the job at Boulogne (USBCO) in the French 3rd tier. After saving them from relegation that season, I turned them around and got a 3rd place finish 2 years later to get promoted via playoff.

Then I got immediately bounced from Ligue 2 in 20th. After missing the playoff place on head-to-head record (French National has places that over goal difference for some reason), I got automatic promotion the next season. You'll never guess, but I finished bottom again.

This time hurt a ton, as 4 extremely promising youth prospects all wanted out. After losing my Number 1 and starting front 3 (even though I brought one of them back on loan) I had to get back to rebuilding the team again. After discovering that we had a club I could scout in Ivory Coast that let me sign players for cheap, we won the National for my first silverware.

3rd time in Ligue 2 starts sensationally. I was even top half for the first 3rd of the season. Then I got too fancy tactically and gave up 9 goals in 2 matches. To stop the bleeding, I reverted to a simple positive tactic to get back on track. After ups and downs, I still found myself hovering 3-6 points above the relegation zone every week. Fortunately, I played 18th in the 3rd to last match, won the 6-pointer, then won the next match to get mathematical safety and I'm absolutely buzzing that I'm staying in Ligue 2.

Now I get to take advantage of more stable finances and build the team upwards from here. Maybe even getting to Ligue 1!

If you read this far, I truly appreciate it.

    Anyone else suck in cups?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2020 08:37 PM PDT

I'm doing an unemployed start save and have made my way to the English Championship and before that League One. Between the Carabao Cup and FA Cup I've been knocked out in my first game in three straight cups to teams at least two leagues below me. My teams have been successful in the league (League 1 runner ups then mid table Championship) but League 2 and National League teams keep somehow upsetting me. Any advice or reason?
