RE: Regarding posts about regen names

    Posted: 09 Jun 2020 11:14 AM PDT

So as many of you know we recently did a poll asking what people wanted us to do about regen name posts. The poll ended up being incredibly close between "leaving it as is" and "provide proof", so we've come up with a compromise I think most people will agree with.

There is now a "Regen name" flair (giving the same post points as a meme), that will prompt a bot to send you a PM asking you to provide proof of legitimacy should people ask for it, but it won't automatically delete your post should you don't, it's just a suggestion and you're not forced to.

I hope most of you will be happy with this, and thank you for voting in the poll.

Rochdale AFC: Far From the Summit (PART I)

Rochdale AFC: Far From the Summit (PART I)

On June 24th of 2019, I got a job as a manager. Finally, a dream that came true. I was appointed as Rochdale AFC's manager. When I got the job, I wasn't even sure where Rochdale was. Turns out that it is a pretty large town, located in the Greater Manchester Area.

Even if we are geographically close to Manchester, football wise, we're far from the summit. Two divisions above the big boys, we're in League One; not bad, but we can't even see to top, at least, for now.

    Club infos

Located in a town still recovering from the traumatic Rochdale Child Abuse Ring, there are way bigger problems than football, and our team frequently fails to fill its stadium, a 10 000 seater one, with average attendances of only 3000 fans. For us, that's a major problem, because if we don't manage to get promoted to the Championship in the next two or three years, we are most likely going to go bankrupt.

    Let's speak football, shall we?

One of the first thing to know about that club is that we are not one of these fallen giants; we're pretty much nobodies. Our biggest moment was when we reached the final of the League Cup, 57 years ago. Not that bad for a team that has never even played Championship football.

I was appointed for one thing, staying in the 3 division of English football, with an aging squad, and a lot of loanees. My first season in charge was going to be rough, but the transfer window, even more.

I managed to put together a decent squad for the pre-season friendlies, but I immediately felt like the poor team cohesion was quickly going to become an issue. The boys seem to struggle to get together as a group, but I can totally understand that part; our best center midfielder is a Manchester United ex-player, while our defensive midfielder is an ex Liverpool player.

    Ex United Player

    Ex Liverpool Player

Speaking about tactics, we are mainly going to a 4-3-3, but I will also set up a 4-1-4-1, for matches against bigger sides, as we are shortly going to play against Stoke City in the Carabao Cup. As our wingers are definitely not great, and our striker a pretty good one, we are mainly going to ship him the ball, and hope for miracles from the 34 years old Ian Henderson, who scored 20 last year.

Our main tactic + A quick look at the star rating

Anyways, as Edwin Waugh, a famous poet from Rochdale named one of his poems, we are absolutely going to need:

    "A Lift On The Way"

No needs to explain that, we need to go up.

See you in the next part, where I am going to talk about the pre-season, the transfer period, and the beginning of our ride up, hopefully!

Ipswich are having a testimonial to a player on trial with me. Seems like a rather odd slight.
