    We're pleased to announce the launch of the Football Manager 2020 Public Beta. All the details regarding what this is, how you can get access and what benefits are available from doing so can be found below.

    What is the Public Beta? – The Public Beta is a chance for you to try our latest in-game fixes and tweaks before they're released the wider public. It's entirely opt-in via a simple process so just click here for instructions on how to access this 'work in progress' version.

    Why are you releasing this now? - Last year for Football Manager 2019 we trialled the 'Public Beta' version and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Since the release of our last game update we've been working hard on a number of performance and match engine improvements and want to give our fans the chance to get access to them as early as we can.

    Can I play use the Public Beta to play my game normally? – Yes, you can. We ask users to back up their save games before moving across just in case, but yes, you can play this version just like normal.

    If I play the Public Beta, does that mean I'm testing the game? – It's entirely up to you. Whilst of course we'd appreciate anyone who finds an issue raising it in our Public Beta forum, if you just want to sample the latest version of the game before it's ready for full release, this is your opportunity to do so.

    If it's ready to go on Public Beta, why not just release it fully in the retail version? – Fixes in the public beta have been tested by our internal QA, but we haven't fully signed off yet and should be considered a work in progress.

    Is there a changelist for what's included in this version? – Yes, you can find the changelist below:

    Various Match Engine (version 2031) tweaks including (but not limited to):

    - Improved one-on-one finishing
    - Recalculations regarding clear-cut chances

    - Improved defensive tracking from long balls
    - Improvements/tweaks to referee behaviour
    - Various other balancing tweaks/improvements

    I'm too attached to players.

    Year after year playing FM, it's always the same.
    You make the club grow and improve, upgrade the facilities, promote from league, if doing fine and/or lucky snap some trophies. And little by little, that player that was essential from Day-One become unessential to your team. You have the opportunity to cash-in on him, get a better AND younger player but s**t !...it gives a lot of heartache to do so.

    Last in date, Tom Trybull in my last QPR save (fm19). Recruited from Norwich for cheap. A "good championship" CM-S which became in 3 years a "decent premierleague" DLP.
    Not my most flamboyant player but my most constant one. Rarely putting a wrong foot, hardworker. And scoring extra-rare but extra important goals. Last in date, a screamer in extra-time to win my QPR team its first Carabao Cup.

    Well, three full season later, Tom is now close to 30yo. His attributes won't get any better, there is a handful of clubs willing to pay good money for him and 4-5 players at least as good as him or better (and YOUNGER) that should remplace him easily.

    Yet, it is end of June 2021 and I am still delaying any offer for him...

    Is it wrong to get emotionnaly attached to silly data codes in a computer fantasy game ?

    Currently managing Chelsea and I have to manage under 19 games, how do put my reserve manager in charge?

    Are AMCs a huge disappointment for everyone else in FM20?

    Despite having multiple pretty great AMC options, I can't seem to get my AMCs to play well. I've tried several formations and, no matter what, my AMCs seem to be wildly volatile in performance (this is across a couple saves with a pretty wide variety of teams at this point) and rarely rate higher than 7.5 on a good day. The best I can get is putting them as an Enganche in a 4231 but even that is getting me an average rating of 6.73 for a guy that should be crushing it.

    Anyone have any advice or tactical suggestions for getting the best out of an AMC? Or is is just time to stop trying and play alternative formations?
