    So excited for FM21

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 12:44 AM PST

This might sound a bit cringy or childish but ever since i started playing FM i've had a dream to be in the game. Next season that dream will come true.

I know that this might not be a big deal for most of you and most of you won't care. But felt i wanted to share my story. 8 years ago i ended my playing career as a 20 year old playing in the 8th tier in Swedish football. I loved football but had problems with my knees and i were kinda shit so figured i'd stop playing so i wouldn't destroy my knees completly.

I wanted to stay in football since i loved the sport so much and luckily i got the chance to coach the same team i played in the coming season. The coming the seven years i kept working hard and did some badges and got to sign with a team in the 5th tier in Sweden. This season we gained promotion to the 4th tier (playable in FM) losing only once. So FM21 im gonna be a part of the game for the first time and im so excited to full fill an almost life long dream.

EDIT: Since this post got bigger than i thought it would and manynof you wanted to know the team name is Morön BK we are unfortunatley in an unplayable tier in FM20 since our season just ended. And thanks to all of you wishing me good luck.

EDIT: Wow.. again thanks for all the good luck wishes and thank you so much for the gold.

    (Sorry for spelling mistakes)

[FM20] I've created a list of leagues where I was able to get a job right away, being unemployed without any coaching badges.

I've created a list of leagues where I was able to get a job right away, being unemployed without any coaching badges.

This year it seems quite hard compared to the past.

Candidate: Swiss (speaking english, german, french & italian), no coaching badges or football career. Giving reasonable answers to budget and goals.

Remark: I've had some unsuccessfull interviews in Singapore, Belarus and Iceland. Things might look differently given the country of birth and language.

List: Country, League (Rank), Team (Status)

    Europe

Ukraine - Ukrainian First League (56) - MFC Metalurg Zaporizhzhya (Pro)

    Scotland - Ladbrokes League 2 (68) - Stenhousemuir (Semi-Pro)

Sweden - Swedish Second Division South (86) - AFK Linköping (Semi-Pro)

Ireland - Irish First Division (168) - Cobh Ramblers (Semi-Pro)

    N. - Ireland - Bluefin Sport Premier League (243) - Lisburn Distillery (Semi-Pro)

    Asia

Singapore - Singaporean Premier League (36) - Geylang International FC (Pro)

Malaysia - Malaysian Premier League (44) - Sarawak (Pro)

Best Goalkeeper transfer targets in FM 2020

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 05:13 PM PST

    Hello!

I've rated each player based on the attributes required for a given role and calculated a standard score, thereby creating a metric to compare players to all other players that can play that role in that position. This then allowed me to find the best transfer targets at the start of the game for various categories of players. Namely, I've found the top 10 players for each role in each of the following "tiers":

    • All - the very best players
    • Free - players for all budgets, since they don't cost anything
    • Free and U29 - a player that not only does not cost anything, but will also give you a few seasons as they are on the good side of 30
    • <100K - very cheap players
    • <100K and U29 - very cheap players younger than 30
    • <1M - players that cost less than a 1M GBP
    • <1M and U29 - players that cost less than a 1M GBP and are also younger than 30
    • <10M - players that cost less than 10M GBP
    • <10M and U29 - players that cost less than 10M GBP and are also younger than 30
    • <30M - players that cost less than 30M GBP
    • <30M and U29 - players that cost less than 10M GBP and are also younger than 30
    • U29 - players that are younger than 30
    • U23 - players that are younger than 24, very talented younger players
    • U21 - players that are younger than 21, so called "wonderkids"
    • U18 - players that are younger than 18, potential future "wonderkids"

To start with, here's a list of the best goalkeeper transfer targets. See in the comments below what is the rating you need for your league.

This is a generated face from the game Football Tactics and Glory, by a small studio. Why can’t SI produce such good quality generated faces?

This is a totally realistic football match, yeah it really is. Right?

Its going to be hard to play in midfiend when your teammates can't even see you.

I ask my best regen to sack his agent because he forces a release clause. His new agent does the same thing so I quit negotiations. This happened...

So I started a new fm19 save with Watford last week and tbh I still find fm a very hard game to play. I've been playing since 16 and have only every done well using other people's tactics. The only time I've ever done well on my own was in 17 when I promoted Brighton and kept them save the next season. But seeing as this is probably gonna be my last save before I buy fm20, I wanted to do it properly. So I built three tactics from scratch and made some decent transfers on the cheap (I got Sandro Tonali for around 4mil, Pape Cheik Diop for around the same, Luis Hernandez and that's about it for the first team). We start doing well because much like Watford in real life they tend to falter around midseason. These include 5-0 w away at Leicester, draws to Arsenal and Tottenham and victories against Man U and Chelsea. Mid season we're sitting around fighting for 3rd or 4th but I still don't wanna get my hopes up. As well as I have all my strikers (Penny, Deeney, Gray and Success) out injured so have to settle for Gorka Guruzeta (who's not bad but struggles against Man City and Liverpool). I'm hoping for maybe Europa League. But we keep on getting those ugly 1-0 and 2-0 wins and eventually Liverpool falter a bit with a draw to Newcastle and a loss to Chelsea and suddenly I'm ahead by a point. And it stays that way up until the final day of the season. A Liverpool Draw or us winning would be all it took and for a minute it looks like at least one is gonna happen. But my boys pick a bad time to fall apart. Was heart breaking but still proud of how I did with 1st season Watford (who have a solid tb and I know Miles probably bumps them a bit but our staff were awful and some first team players who are just truly not good enough. But I think I did pretty well (Jose Holebas even made team of the season and my assistant was telling me earlier in the season how his career is practically over). I'm just proud that I was able to make a solid tactic to do this well and make good signings.

Does this happen to you guys a lot?

    My favourite FM yet!

Wow, FM is so unrealistic: It would atleast take another 4 years until Brexit actually happens

I think the VAR works overtime and is underpaid in FM2020

FM 2020 Beta Match Engine impressions so far

    Posted: 04 Nov 2019 01:59 AM PST

After finishing my first season with Liverpool I wanted to share my experience and start a match engine thread.

I played an adjusted gegenpress tactic with the standard 433 with the Fabinho in defensive mid as playmaker. highest defensive line possible, Firmino as a false 9 and both wingers inside forwards and complete wing backs.

Compared to FM19 I noticed that players like to switch the play a ton, infact sometimes my wingbacks are playing 40 yard one two passes to each other. This is with passing set to play shorter and work ball into the box.

Long shots, I have never had my midfielders score so many goals as this football manager. In 2019 I played a similar tactic with my midfield 3 getting about 9 goals between them. This year Henderson as a Box to box scored 10 and most of them were 25 yard screamers. Obviously if you have watched Henderson IRL this isn't exactly realistic. Fabinho as defensive mid also scored 8 goals in mostly the same fashion.

Players absolutely refuse to cut back. I don't know if someone has PTSD from playing fifa but the amount of times a player has been in the perfect position to just pass the ball 5 yards to their side for an easy clear cut chance is stupid. Instead they try to shoot in a position only Suarez would attempt and ignore the easy pass.

Too many offside highlights in comprehensive view. I feel like extended doesn't quite show enough of the game but comprehensive view is almost 50% offside decisions.

Long balls are very effective. Now Van Dijk is known to have great long range passing IRL but hes practically my best playmaker in this FM. Most of the goals I conceded came from the same thing, 60 yard pass over the top that lands perfectly in front of the attacker the sprint on for a clear cut chance. I am tempted to try a formation that just exploits having a pacy striker and over the top balls from defence to see if I am just not being bias.

Fewer shots off target. This may be due to long shots being better but in the last FM I had a good amount of 30+ shot games with 20 being off target against weaker teams. In this FM it happens much less often which is nice. The players seem to find space more now and get into better positions to shoot.

Overall I think there are some improvements to the match engine, I didn't notice many new animations and players still do that annoying thing were they just forget the ball sometimes and stand still to be tackled. I think if they tone down some of the changes it will be a better engine than 2019.

Also why change Firmino's finishing to 13? Last FM he was a god and this year hes worthless.
