PSA: Playing with an amateur team will turn you into a cold-hearted bastard Posted: 22 Nov 2019 02:44 AM PST Amateur teams change you. When you're in charge of an amateur team, you don't really hire a player. Sure, you offer them a contract but, let's face it... is it really a contract? No, it's just a kind request. It's like you're asking that player "hey, buddy, if you have no plans for the weekend, would you mind showing up at this match and playing for my side?". That's it. There's not much of a connection there. If he has nothing better to do, he'll show up. If anything else remotely interesting pops up, he'll leave the team and you'll never hear from him ever again. When players join you, there's no commitment on their part. The moment they start displaying their skills through good exhibitions, they'll start receiving offers from teams who can actually pay them. And they'll leave. Hell, good exhibitions aren't even required. This one time, I hired a scout with some knowledge in Austria (I'm managing in Portugal) and he recommended an Austrian kid that looked like an obscure hidden gem for my team. Amazingly enough, he was willing to move to Portugal and play for my team for free. He didn't even make it to his first official match... some days after joining me, another team realized the kid existed and offered him a deal. He left. After a while, you start to reciprocate that behaviour. You've just found someone better than one of your players, who's willing to join your team for literally nothing? Yes, other guy I recently hired, you're getting replaced. You're not happy with the way how I've dealt with this? Well, tough luck. Release on a free. Any player who stays with your team for longer than 3 months is a loyal veteran. You'll be going through players faster than "The Walking Dead" or "Game of Thrones" killed characters. Plenty of players will join, plenty of players will leave. Most of the times, you won't even remember their names. Odds are you'll only remember they once played for you when they come back to bite the hand that used to feed them - even if that hand didn't really feed them anything. Long story short, if you're not careful, playing with an amateur team will turn you into a cold-hearted bastard. Resist it. And, if you somehow find a player who sticks with you for more 6 months, make him your captain. Yes, Merlin Tandjigora from my beta save, I'm talking about you. [link] [comments]

Best scouting assignments for wonderkids and high PA players? Posted: 22 Nov 2019 09:34 PM PST I've been managing in Romania for about 5 years with very minimal budget — after doing a decent job and with a national team I got a bumper move to Liverpool. Liverpool have a great but (somewhat) ageing squad, so now is the time to start looking for long term replacements. I've been out of the loop because my scouting budget was non-existent for so long, but now I have Liverpool's riches - what's the best countries/leagues/etc to scout to get up to date on all the newgen future stars? I've sent a few to South and Central America with vague > 19 with Very Good PA but they haven't brought back any results. [link] [comments]

Posted: 22 Nov 2019 03:29 PM PST Anyone else have no idea how the team training works? I see people saying to use tactical training etc but I can't for the life of me figure out where I can select tactical training and just leave it on tactical training. All I'm seeing is schedules which are done weekly. Any help would be great :) [link] [comments] |
